Bongo color wishes

Every instrument I've played made of Koa was very heavy. I guess it depends on the body size/shape and the specific piece of wood.

Heck, even the first place I looked for body woods described Koa thusly: "Koa (Acacia Koa): This very beautiful wood comes exclusively from Hawaii making supply very limited. It's weight varies somewhat from medium to heavy and is an excellent tone wood for bass guitar bodies."

I'd think a Koa Bongo would be heavy, but it's all academic, really. And, I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Always game to check out a Koa Bongo, though. :D
 
I would love for EB to bring back buttercream.
I had a buttercream bongo, once, for a month or so, and should have never let it go.

I'm trying to remember if the buttercream had a gloss or satin finish, I have seen mostly gloss Stingrays in that color, but I have the sneaking recollection that the bongo was satin. Anyone have one or could confirm?

Hmmm.. interesting; then I stand corrected...and yes a Koa bongo would be KILLER...
but my all-time favorite Bongo finish is on the one I own (on my newly-acquired 5 HH) - The Dargie Delight II finish; the way it changes shade in different light is amazing. I think the lines on Bongos work best with metallic, car-type finishes.

I'm hoping they do some more of those sparkle finishes. I wasn't in a position to take advantage of the last two runs. Maybe next time.

It don't get any better than these two beauties, especially the black sugar with a roasted neck, that is my dream bongo.

I absolutely love mine. It is my favorite Bongo by far! The roasted necks I love and they go great with the black sugar finish.
 
I've had more compliments on my Blue Pearl Bongo in the last ten years than on all my other basses.

I have some pretty basses, incidentally.
 
Not to be discounted is the fact that I PLAY my Blue Pearl Bongo 10 times as much as any other bass. Heh.
 
I really like the Pearl Blue and the Candy Red. If they were to do another run of the Mahogany PDN's, I definitely pick up another one. I love the one that I have.

Hey Gary...I had a Buttercream Bongo for about 5 years and it definitely had the standard gloss finish - except for the neck and headstock of course. It's hard to tell in this picture but the clear coat finish was definitely glossy.

My pleasure. I agree with you though...Buttercream was a very cool colour and, I think, it looked great on the Bongo. I think it was a nice alternative to the flashier colours (which I also love BTW) and gave it a more "mature" look. :)
 
I just picked up a green sparkle Bongo 5 - and agree that it seems really wrong not to have that in ebony. Still love the color - waiting for delivery from Bass Central.

You will love the color Ziggy. I bought the other Bongo 5 from Bass Central and the color blows my mind. Agree - ebony would be killer but I can deal with rosewood.
 
Maybe we can beg Big Pappa to do that... and just so happen to implement it in time for mine on order? :D
Also - if either of you decide to let go of the sparkle green Bongo's, let me know please!
