I have an HS, Like Jack said, Its a little more polite than the HH, But it still does some damage and can get plenty of growl, but it also gets a nice Jazz bass tone with the single coil. The pan control has become my main tone control.drgroovenstein said:Well, its H/S for me. I am picking up a used one. Seems like a safe way to test the waters.

Wasabi said:So, Sean...I thought you were going with the Bongo...But you decided to do a SR5 instead? Someone yesterday told me that to get the Jazz bass sound, you need the dual humbuck SR5 so you can do the outer coils. Haven't measured a Jazz pickup location, so I couldn't verify, but I do love the slap sound on position 3.
The string spacing (and roundness of the neck) keeps me from making the SR or a dual pickup my one and only. It is my primary bass...Works perfectly in my primary gig and at church. I can't get the slap sound to my liking really, for some reason...It's not what I hear in my head, which is a bummer, and it's not "tame" enough for jazz. Otherwise, I could ditch everything else. Cause the StingRay punches like Ali (in his prime).
