I just know the Bongo 5 H is the one that can sound just a bit more of everything than the SR5 does.

I doubt I ever get any two pup GAS. The Bongo H done convinced me.

I love the single coil in my H/S Bongo5, my H/H Bongo has a wider spectrum of tones overall, but that single coil has a little something I can't get out of the H/H.

Really, one should have a H, H/H and a H/S... just to be sure.:D

Well, its H/S for me. I am picking up a used one. Seems like a safe way to test the waters.
I have an HS, Like Jack said, Its a little more polite than the HH, But it still does some damage and can get plenty of growl, but it also gets a nice Jazz bass tone with the single coil. The pan control has become my main tone control.
I still want to try the H when Monkee gets his in. Until then I'm content for now.

How does the SR5 HH and HS compare? I have a single H and a dual H but was considering buying an HS to add to the collection. Any input is definately appreciated! :)

I like the idea that on the HS SR5 you can still get that single coil by the brdge sound. Otherwise, they are pretty similar I would guess. That being said, I picked the SR5 HH. Yeah, I'm going to be a multiple EBMM owner heh. I certainly hope I can get used to the string spacing. I swore off SR5 years ago. I loved the tone, but couldn't get used to the spacing. I decided to bite the bullet and dive in with both feet. :)

So, Sean...I thought you were going with the Bongo...But you decided to do a SR5 instead? Someone yesterday told me that to get the Jazz bass sound, you need the dual humbuck SR5 so you can do the outer coils. Haven't measured a Jazz pickup location, so I couldn't verify, but I do love the slap sound on position 3.

The string spacing (and roundness of the neck) keeps me from making the SR or a dual pickup my one and only. It is my primary bass...Works perfectly in my primary gig and at church. I can't get the slap sound to my liking really, for some reason...It's not what I hear in my head, which is a bummer, and it's not "tame" enough for jazz. Otherwise, I could ditch everything else. Cause the StingRay punches like Ali (in his prime).

HH SR5s do a pretty nice jazz tone with positions 2 and 4. 2 is most similiar to a jazz, i tihnk, 4 is a bit more refined and MM like.

No, I bought a used Bongo, but I already had an SR5 HH on order. So, I will have a the new SR5 in July some time, and my new-to-me Bongo will be here sometime next week. I just couldn't wait for the SR5 to be finished! I used to have a SR5, back when the necks were that heavy lacquer finish.

I have a Fender Jazz Deluxe V, I'm not really a jazz bass kind of guy for fingerstyle. Slap tone is pretty sick on it, but I just can't get into the fingerstyle. I just don't have that bridge pickup punch in my fingers or something. It always comes out doinky sounding when I try it heheh.
