Better late than never . . .

Well, I got back to GC today, and the bass I was mentioning is still there. It is a Bongo 5HH, and the serial number is F13931. If Candy Red is a metallic, I can buy that it might be candy. This dude is clearly a sparkly metallic bright red, and GC still has it labeled as a "limited color", although it has a semi-matching headstock (definitely NOT the black of the limited!) The lighting in the quiet room is pretty bad, so I can accept that it might match better in better light, but to my eye, at least, it's not even close.

So, can Dargin or BP take a wee moment to figure out exactly what color this S/N is, so I can at least decide if what I like is RR or CAR?

Thanks,

- Tim

I was thinking about it and it may very well be RR, however I am definately not using there tag lablinng of it as limited edition to be the deciding factor. Of course I will have my Candy Red Bongo on Thursday and it will be the first solid look I have had at a Candy Red EB.

Oh, of course not . . . there are lies, damn lies, and marketing (in this case, GC's tag info . . ). Hopefully, Dargin or BP can run the serial and let us know for sure. I just mention the tag for sake of description. Obviously, it can't be the limited since the headstock is not black . . . and they didn't appear to want to be bothered with that fact when I told them, either . . . .

Now, on another note altogether, they have a 5HHc with case green tagged for an indecent price today! If only it was an HSc, I might now own a third Bongo . . . drat! (And GOOD - didn't have the urge to blow the dough!).

the headstock of my desert gold Bongo5 doesn't look "identical" to the body but that's because the body has high gloss clear coat and the neck/headstock doesn't BUT it is the same paint/colour

My local mom and pop shop had my SR5 listed as Egyptian smoke and Abalone pick guard. It was indeed Graphite Pearl and Moonstone. I wouldn't call that a lie I just think they didn't know. They are great to do business with.

We all don't see colors the same and employees make mistakes.

I myself wouldn't say GC is telling a lie.

I never said that they were lying - more like they are just clueless . . . . at least on this one. Generally, they seem to do pretty well.

Well maybe EB should attach tags to the bass indicating colour, wood etc?
There seems to be a fair amount of confusion or is this only used basses?
