and now that shakinbacon got it, he's loving it!! So sb would you like to tell us why you love your bongo and what it does for you? :)

It is the best bass guitar I've ever played - period. And I'm a very, very picky guy

The tone, tone control, SNR, fingerboard, hardware, fit and finish and aesthetics are top notch

But most of all, the tone when playing live is what I've been looking for

Is it perfect? no (I told you I was picky). Is it the best I've played? yes

Plus, there are a group of fanatics who love the instrument who have helped me and continue to answer my questions. That is very important to me

Just wanted to say this thread is helping while I wait for my first Bongo to arrive via Fedex (hopefully tomorrow).

I traded it for my SR5HH which I loved- me and the tradee each feel we got the better deal. We're both right.

I'll confess the Bongo looks didn't inspire me until I tried one... and this darned forum fueled a major GAS pain after that spark was lit.

I'll be shootin' y'all with questions soon and hopefully add to this thread saying I'm a fanboy

Now where is that Fedex truck???

oh yeah, and I'm a fanboy now

My bongo has went country band. They say that thing doesn't have to be loud to be heard. It is the best bass sound ever.

Testimony enough for me but I already figured it out I am the bass player. :D

Then I crank it up.

cuz I am tk after all.

:D

This thread's still going strong? Well, I will be at the one year mark for owning Bongos around November-ish and I'll have six Bongo five stringers by then (counting the Dargies). It's simply one of the best bass guitars I've ever played, so enjoyable and effortless to play. It's the satisfaction it gives me that keeps me coming back for more, and maybe a little bit of that stuff concerning MM in BP's blog. There's something about this company that keeps me coming back too.

Some help making a big decision!

Hi guys, its been interesting reading through these posts. There is just one doubt in my mind that I need to get rid of before I buy a Bongo 6. Its very hard to find any bongos in any shops in the UK. The closest I got to recently was a Stingray 4. I have to be honest, I didnt really like the way it played. An Ibanez GSR206 played much better and for 75% less money. I was just wondering if Bongos are traditionally nicer to play (in terms of requiring less effort to fret notes) than Stingrays. I know it maybe a bit unfair comparing how a 4 string plays to a 6 but I'm not sure how much difference it would make.
I've pretty much fallen in love with the bongo I just want to make sure I make the right decision - lot of money!!!
Thanks for your help :)

Ok cheers, I've found a shop in London that sells em. Gonna go up a try one. I think I'll end up importing from America, bit cheaper. Maybe it did have a set up issue, although I've heard Stingrays can be cumbersome. Guess I'll find out soon enough. Hopefully I'll be able to reply saying how much I love my Bongo lol

Because it sounds great live and I can make subtle changes to the tone on the fly

drastic changes are available but that can be dangerous in my hands :)

I guess that one needs to define the term "Cumbersome". What was it they were mentioning?

I think its because it was because of the thickness of the neck. The Ibanez I played had a much thinner neck. Talking of which, can anyone tell me the thickness of the bongo 6's neck at say the 1st and 12th frets? Just so I can get an idea of how it compares.
Cheers.

If you mean thinckness from front to back, yes it's thicker than a typical Ibanez, which is a good thing...

The only thing I can tell you about the Bongo 6 is the neck is perfect at any fret.

Yeah, from the top of the fingerboard to the underside where you would be pressing your thumb. Can anyone tell me some numbers?
