Me being gunho on SRs. I decided to try a Bongo. I decided that a Bongo is to much for me to handle lol. Its wayyyyy deeper and has wayyyyy more lower and heavier tones than any SR ive played. and the Tone controls omg the tone controls. You can make your bongo Clean your dish, do your laundry basically anything you want with the controls on the Bongo. The only thing I didnt like was the Neck what the hell is it with the Paint on the nice its nowere near as fast as and SR. anyways I just wanted to say all you Bongo players. You picked a nice bass. But my SR5 still owns you. :p

Ya know it's a good thing you posted your "review" 'cause I was worried to death about what you might think about the bongo. I'm glad I have your permission to play my instrument of choice. I don't get the neck thing though. You aren't even touching the paint and I've had no trouble with speed.

I've owned SR's and I own 2 Bongos and I see a difference but not a huge one. I actually prefer the way the Bongo neck feels. It all comes down to what feels best to each person. It isn't "Dis roxors...more over Bongo..SR5 ownz!!!"

Ill have to respect that If I would have got a bongo in my hand and not a SR I would probably be sitting her saying Bongos are better because I used to be very fond of that style of neck

I'm not sure this statement is true. I refer you to the 13th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Also, I'm not aware that an inanimate object has property rights. Although, there might be some kookie law on the books about it in some weird state like California. Maybe if you incorporated your SR5 or possibly turned it into an LLC it would have some property rights. But then again, you get back to that whole 13th amendment thingy. :p

I'm with you dude........I too prefer the way the Bongo neck feels over the Stingray. The painted neck doesn't feel like, let's say, a Ric or a Fender with the gloss coated neck. In fact the Bongo neck to me feels unpainted & is pretty fast.

No dis to Bongo owners, just MO:
I fully agree that the Bongo is a fantastic bass - so many different tonal options so easy to dial in - plays great - etc...etc...etc

After playing SR5's the Bongo seems just a little "artificial" to me tone-wise in comparison. The Rays just have that meaty/fat/phat tone that works for me. But believe me, if there was no StingRay I'd be playing a Bongo for sure!

Ya know, I would imagine that's the kinda thing a P bass player would of said about the Ray when it first came out. Is the Bongo more modern in sound and look? Most deffinatly yes and it's not for everyone obviously. Luckily you have the choice of a SR5 or you wouldn't be truly happy. :D

Hey I love the interaction between the rookie and the geezers......The thing I realize is once again the youth may lack tact or have no filter and geezers lack patience. It is also funny that userbreaksmed and his threads generate alot of posts that usually end up nothing like the fire he starts. If this forum is only Bongos against the world and and serial number stuff it would get old soon.

Diversity and action, humor, good information and a great place to share your passion for music and great instruments...Thats what Im talking about..........

We'll.....thats why I own a bongo and an SR5. I have the best of both.
My engineers and producers love em. they get me more work, and my 10 yr old daughter thinks the bongo looks cool.
