You've made that bongo a one-of-a-kind. I would say 'do the headstock' but that would mean getting rid of the EBMM BONGO logo which I would just be wrong. Personally I wouldn't have the guts to do that, I just leave the decisions down to BP.

It would be interesting in a few years time to see a special edition Bongo with maple board and unpainted neck/headstock.

yeah, the only reason i did it was it was second hand and had been put through the wars. The paint on the neck was in bits so it was get it refinished or bring it back to the bare wood.I have to say it feels fantastic !

there is a few people around here who have done the same (most better jobs than mine) if my neck was in perfect i would never have done it,but i love it now !!

It looks better without pickguard IMHO. Actually make that an HH and it's my dream bass!

 This is bass pornography! ;) Nevertheless, I'd like it better with a maple fretboard

Is there something we can do to make this option available? Is someone here in contact with the musicman administration?

That 'white' bongo is just unfinished basswood, is it not? And methinks the pickup is just a mock...

Maple looks way cool, but if there was gonna be another wood it would gotta be ebony.

That ball family reserve SR5 looks so sweet.

Yes and yes. That's the very first assembled Bongo6, lacking a proper pickup. I guess there's no finish on it yet, just the basswood what you're seeing, and maybe too much brightness in the picture. I took it from the bongo6 first look thread. Here are some more

Love the unfinished bridge on that one ^^

OK, so when are we going to see a Bongo with a maple fretboard?

Let it go, man. It's not going to happen.

I'll tell you what...as much as I dislike maple fretboards on any bass and think that a Bongo would look especially bad with a maple board, I'll go on the record and say that I'll buy one if they put it into production...that's how confident I am that it's not going to happen...

Over at TB I've been an early support of the Bongo - I believe in the idea that instrument design should move forward just like pickups, electronics, hardware, and everything else. I doubly like the idea that EB/MM were the ones to do so, and tried to back up Jack as much as possible. And although unfortunately I've found what ultimately is *my* tone in basses and they're not Bongos, a 5 H/S is on The List of stand-alones I'd eventually like to pick up for the reasons above...

A Maple 'board would change that from "Eventually" to "Damn Soon", as they are one of the reasons my Main Bass became so. Toss in a laminated Ash top for Transparent Finishes and it would go even farther to "Yesterday!" ;)
