Don't worry, the last few lines say it all!
"We cannot say with absolute certainty that the risk is increased due to carcinogens formed in burned meat," said Anderson.

"However, those who enjoy either fried or barbecued meat should consider turning down the heat or cutting off burned portions when it's finished; cook meat sufficiently to kill bacteria without excess charring," Anderson said.

Don't burn my BBQ!

They'll move on to something else next week, and I'll go out with BBQ sauce smeared from ear to ear. Don't look now but the sky is falling...

So I ask, what's for dinner tonight, chicken or ribs????

Geez you can't eat this you can't eat that now listen to this advice ...

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually.. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: 'If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets and what to eat on B-B-Q's

And remember:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride!'

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like. ;)

I think of it this way... if smoking, drinking and eating meat are so bad.... why did George Burns live till 100? Its a risk just waking up and plugging your guitar into your amp.... you could be killed by an electrical shock... thankfully, I'm playing a Ball so I know the wiring is perfect... but think of the poor saps playing a "F" or "G" brand guitar? They will never know what hit them! Should the government then suggest that people only play EBMM guitars to avoid certain death from electric shock due to poor wiring??? Actually... BP may be able to use that as some great marketing... EBMM saves lives!

BTW... I just bought a smoker yesterday and am looking forward breaking it in this weekend with some Ribs, Tri-tip and hot-links! Some good old Santa Maria style BBQ.

I once saw a great cartoon: an old and withered wisp of a man in a doctor's office, with the doctor saying "You know those five extra years of life that exercise gave you? These are them!"

Pork BBQ for Niece's Graduation Party...

I was asked if I would make some pork BBQ for my niece's graduation party today so I started a bunch last night...

Here's what I start with...

After prepping with my rub...

Reacked and ready for the smoker...

4:00 in the afternoon...

I had to improvise a rain cover, I was working between severe thunderstorms and bought a flue cover that fit perfectly...

15 hours later or 7am the next morning after going all night at 225 degrees...
IMG_2260.jpg

Foiled to finish off and get past the plateau to the final temp of 195 degress internal

Pulling away...

The end result. I wound up with 2 of these tins.

BP,
Enjoy your day off. I saw what looked like a pretty good recipe for prime rib that I want to try out.

You need to plan an event in the Baltimore/DC area... I'd take care of the whole crew.

Apparently I did good, many compliments on the pork. I think I'm going to kick back and do some ribs tomorrow.
