Desert Wolfe Do you own one? What did I say that was wrong?

Just to answer your post I set up two of them and the third was for me...It didnt work for me so I sent it back. My wife loves hers.

Maybe you shouldnt assume that I didnt set up multiple ones before you decided to be a big guy on the keyboard. Get lost.

Hey Big Poppa,

Great to see you are staying up late. You might have noticed I revised my post just a little, so as to not be quite so harsh.. but I am a big man on the keyboard, what can I say?

In any case, I too have set up multiple ones, however, all mine have been setup with Mac OSX machines, and not Windows, or Linux machines... so I don't know what problems you may run into.

Here's the deal with me:

I always sync all my phones using iSync, so that my contacts, addresses, etc are up to date on the main machine- my PowerMac. (2/3.0ghz/2Tb,4Gb/1 24",2x20").

When I get a new phone, I first make sure that the old one is synced, then I proceed with migration to the new one... when I did this with the iPhones it went flawlessly- compared to some of the other phones where I need to do some googlng and find the appropriate sync profiles, etc.

Can you tell me more about your email not working, I am curious - are you using straight forward IMAP or POP, or do you have SSL or VPN, or some other method of access configured?

(Oh btw- the get lost comment, is maybe deserved, but hey - I am just a defensive little guy who ran across your post- what would you do? )

I would love nothing more in phones to be able to use the Iphone. I have 8 macs and am a gan. I think that they blew it a little for a businessman. I have to carry two phones because of battery issues.

Let me go back to Isync....I searched the world and www for a progam that would sunc the razr. then I had to purchase another third party piece to sync the blackberry (missing sync great product)

On my razr I talk about 4-5 thousand minutes per month and another 2,000 on the blackberry..I get about 100 emails per day and many times I am on the razr and answering an email with one hand with the blackberry pearl.

Our It dept cannot figure o0ut how to make this work in real time.....Ill have him send you an email

The hype and lack of information with the introduction was not good if you are in business. If they were clear on the features and abilities I would have waited. The ATT store in Coeur D alene Idaho was just a bust also making the apple/att thing a drag.

Att stock took a hit last week because the iphone sold about 300k less than projections APple stock did great because of the overall balance and the iphone business was plus,

by the was all things apple I love the Apple TV and thought it may be lame because of lack of dvr capability but lI have probably sold a dozen this maonth alone to people who come over for bbq and listen to the music and view the slide shows.

what desert city do you live in?

By the way I think that all retailers should study the apple store model. Genius. They opened up a small one in SLO and its great and I visited the Chicago store yesterday...It was pumping

@Big Poppa-
iSync should handle your Razr, but you'll probably have to do some manual editing of the iSync phone profiles..

I had to do some of this editing to get my old sony w300i to work, so I am pretty sure that you'll be able to get the razr (and for that matter the blackberry too). For the blackberry, you may need to check out a program called "PocketMac".

As for the business of ATT and Apple - Apple actually announced they sold 270,000 iPhones in 2 days - far exceeding the 146k that were activated. The analysts projections were all over the place - from 100k to 700k - I think they too, were just buying into the hype, and some of the corrective action on AT&T stock was only natural when the dust started to settle.

AT&T actually called my company to tell us not to expect to buy under any corporate plans, as the iPhone would not be supported yet for corporate plans - I thought that was a load of crap, but I don't blame Apple for that - just that AT&T is ..well... AT&T.

As for the apple tv - it's cool that you like it that much - I have not bought it because the 480p resolution didn't seem like a match when everything is 1080 now. I want HD ;-) -- I was a little disappointed that they didn't come out with something cutting edge in that regard.

Regarding the stores- I just wish that Apple had more stores, or would branch out into a national chain quicker. I am in Palm Desert, and had to purchase at an AT&T store - it's a pain, and it's worse with all the mac equipment I have - I have to go to San Diego or LA to get repairs,etc... I know that they are rolling out "Apple Stores" in 200 Best Buys - but that sort of scares me, having never had great experiences with Best Buy.

@colin: Fender Precision Bass, about 10 years old. Kept at my dad's house these days, since he's the real musician. But that's a whole different story..

we went around and around Phatty here helped me with the third party program the editing and fooling Isync did not work.

Here is the latest My blackberry basically fell apart today...went to the ATT store we got the email accts set up and sthe contacts were missing even though he tranbsferred the sim card.....He says no problem just download the pocket mac it has a feature for swithching to a new Pearl. Guess what Ii now have missing sync that now gets errors and the picket mac does not sync....ARGHHHHHHh

I live in a QUinta and apple is a mirage there I have to do my apple business in San luis where they have both an apple store and an apple independent.

Not When I bought my wife her Iphon her mac book was not an intel...so its time for a new mac book as the iphone wont works with it. So I buy the I phone and the new mac book and it doesnt transfer the safari bookmarks...I have to buy another third party app. ARRRGG so she is still using the old lap top bugging me to set up her new one.

BP and I went over a bunch of stuff with the Razr. i dont own one so I borrowed my mom's, unlces and friends. I got all of those to sync with my mac easily. 2 of them on ATT one on Verizon. BP had previously gone thru exactly what I successfully did with the 3 Razrs i borrowed w/ no luck. to humor me BP followed a bunch of step-by-step instructions I made when i got 3 Razrs to successfully sync... however, it didnt work with BP's phone (also this was what BP had been doing all along - he just went along w/ my instructions just in case he missed something).

its pretty baffling. i got 3 razrs to sync in about 2 minutes each. BP's refuses. Both of us tried everything we could think of or dig up on the web.

as far as the iPhone goes... i want one cuz its cool even though I have zero complaints about my blaackberry 7130. however its email capabilities dont fullfill my needs :(

its probably all solvable w/ software updates but im still gonna wait. none of my computer nerd friends that got it are 100% happy with it. many say their blackberry was better for work type stuff

Here's a cool web browser for mobile phones. It's Opera's answer to the iPhone Safari browser. Has zoom and scroll functions. It doesn't make the screen rotate though when you tilt the phone like you can with iphone.

http://www.operamini.com/beta/

I just installed it on Dargin's Pearl. Seems pretty cool though it still is beta.

I was gonna tell BP to check it out but it probably won't install all that well on a dead blackberry.

Others here might find this of interest though. Works on wide range off mobile phones.

As far as the Razr goes my vote is it needs a firmware update to overwrite the lock outs the cell provider installed. Just a guess though without having seen or messed with the phone.

BP, we share the same tastes in guitars and in technology it seems.

I use PocketMac to sync my Macbook Pro with my Pearl, it's free and works great. I see you tried using it with no luck, but it does work well if you can get it going!

As far as Apple goes, I'm a big fan. I follow the rumours and all the good stuff waiting for something new. New Ipods coming on the 7th, or so macrumors.com says. I need one ever since my Ipod Nano 8g got stolen when my store was robbed.

I stll want an Iphone, though I'll decde once they arrive in Canada, 2008 I'm guessing. My BB Pearl will do untill then (though it's not the best for music)

Word to the wise, buy a shock-proofing case for your iPod! Those things are like little mini computers made out of eggshells! Mine died recently, I got this on my screen, I think the poor guy's dead for good. Took a big tumble in my hubby's LAV one day out in the field. :( :( :(

I had the same icon, i fixed it in a bit of a strange manner i held my palm out and grabbing the ipod in the other gave it a short sharp whack into my open palm (the thin silver side edge hitting your palm not face on)
It works again!
I read about this and you have to do it with a certain side of it hitting your palm for it to work cause i think it is the head of the hard drive having got stuck (think like a record player and its stylus) and giving it this whack just realigns it.
