All SR5s since April of 08 are alnico.

They also all had 3 band EQ, 3 position toggle switch, contoured bodies, non mute bridges, different pickguards, no control plate...etc etc.

So you never know. You just never know with EBMM. These pickups are probably made of a non magnetic synthetic fibre or something...

................Kind of glad someone beat me to those two Classic Stingrays that "zombi" was selling after Bass Player Live! ;) Hindsight is always 20/20!

Still glad I beat you to the ONE for me, but I definitely see a second in my future.

Think about it some more...focus on the title of this thread. One word. Starts with "c". Ends with "lassic".

As many others, I'm blown away by the tobacco burst SR5...
Would it be insane (let alone economically feasible) to sell my SR5 HH for one of those?

From your sig, it looks like your SR5 is an 07. I would first check out a new SR5 to see how you like the alnico pickup vs. the ceramic pickup in yours.

Wow the classic Sr5 looks awsome. The bridge is a killer. Were you able to put the weight below 10 lbs? is the body countoured or is the body like a pre eb musicman?

They are now available, so you can call your local/favorite Music Man dealer to order! They might not have all the info yet since they were just released yesterday, but they can give us a call to get the details :)

I believe slab bodied means no contours.
So it is flat on top and a flat back...a slab

Slab body means it doesnt have the beer-belly cut out in the back of the body or the forearm bevel on the top-front of the body. The old pre ernie ball Musicman basses and old old fenders had slab bodies.

Let me just say, there was a black one at NAMM that I played that had just an awesome sound. I was blown away. I did not get to the sunburst as it always had a crowd around it. They sound killer though, absolutely killer!
