I'm gonna chime in here, and not make any friends. Brent, you basically have made this forum your own ebay/craig's list. You have flipped more guitar on this forum than anyone a close second.

Why should BP allow you any bandwidth when you use it to buy and sell used guitars? So I say, "Good riddance, goodbye, good luck, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

And just for the record, I didn't think for a moment that you "picked Island Boy's pocket," I knew something was up with that thread. I just know you are bad for this forum, so bye, bye, ta, ta, and go flip your guitars somewhere else.

I try to stay out of all this controversy, when this kind of stuff hits the fan....But I've got to say, Ernie, that has a little harsh. Why didn't you make your feelings known when Brent was still a part of forum. Why wait to find out that he is leaving the forum to start spitting nails. That's the easy way out.

BP does in fact give some bandwidth to buy and sell guitars on the forum. That's what the "for sale" and "ebay\craigslist" threads are for. Yes, a lot of guitars have gone through his hands. He could easily sell his guitars on ebay and has done it before. But I feel he's giving the forum members first opportunity. I've never taken offence to the amount of guitars he has sold here.

Now to the incident. Maybe it was in bad taste to say he'd buy Islandboys EVH before he answered his question. And he did answer it buy the way. When I saw the thread, I assumed Islandboy was looking to sell his EVH cause he was looking for the price that they originally sold for. For anyone who is here on a regular basis, knows these guitar are sought after. And I believe there would have been a bunch of guys here that would have jumped at the opportunity(especially for pink EVH). I feel Brent just trying to jump the gun get first dibs. I don't think there was anything wrong with that. Maybe there was just a little bad taste with the way he went about doing it. He should have answered Islandboys question, then PM'd him to say he was interested if he was selling.

And I didn't see any harm in the comment Poppa made. I took it as a joke as well. That's why we definately need the emoticons(smiley faces). So people know when we are kidding around.

I think things totally got out of hand. And I hope brent comes back, so things can get back to normal.

It really boils down to things that have been said. Brent feels that I have treated him badly. I feel that this has been a good place for him and he has bought and sold a lot of stuff here.

DId you know that there has only been one bass player banned or asked to leave?

What is it with you guitarists? SMILEY FACE HERE

I dont think that Brent being here has a lot to do with things being normal. THis is normal..there were hundreds of threads and thousands of posts. Brent is getting way too much airtime and that is what isnt normal.

Scott also Ernie does represent a few people who have expressed concerns regarding certain members capitalizing on the forum and the free bandwidth. You both have points...

I dont provide the for sale gear for active traders. it is up to you to decide where Brent fits in. I do it so you have liquidity in your previous purchases. The fine line is when people are selling 6-12 instruments per year at a profit on the forum they are probably not in line with the intent. If I was charging for the service then it is fine. THis is supposed to be an information center not a profit center.

Aw, Brent, don't leave the forums. We love having you around here and I know you are reading this. BP was just kidding around and he's tried to make peace a bunch of times. Come back, o prodigal rocker, and we'll celebrate your return!!

BTW, there's rumors of a KOA Axis floating around. You can't pass that up.

I guess the smiley faces is a six stringer thing.:):):):):):):)

I for one knew you were joking around with, Brent. It's too bad he took it the wrong way.

And trust me, I have nothing against Ernie. I just don't like it when feelings are made known once someone has left. To me it just seems like a cheap shot. I didn't know others had the same feelings. Too bad these feelings couldn't have been revealed in a PM to BRENT. But then again there could have been PM's made and the rest of us wouldn't have known.

For your comments about the profits taken by some sellers....I never thought of it that way, and point well taken.

And when I said i wanted things to get back to normal, I meant getting rid of the controversy. Didn't mean that by having brent come back things would be normal again.

P.S. any pics of the new mustang?

And I snuck back in anyway.

this is why I never post here. People get too pissed too easily in this place.

Nah, it's just that controversy is more interesting, sometimes, than "Where can I get a washer for my mojo switch?" or "Foggy, do you have a photo of..."

I will say that the bass forum is a hell of a lot easier to moderate than the guitar forum. Don't know why that is, but it's true.

We bassists do a fair amount of swaps and sales and trades, too. I've been known to be involved occasionally.....but I think you guys win, hands-down. Maybe that's a factor.

The Lust for The Next Cool Instrument can be overwhelming. We have to remember that this really isn't eBay and that we need to be nice to new people.

And old people, too, like me. And BP. SMILEY FACE CONSIDERED HERE

There will always be controversy. THis is a village where people move out and new ones move in. I have seen very active posters disappear and someone new gets the jones and picks up the slack. It is just the revolving nature of passing fancy and strong passion for a subject.

I know that as a man if someone who has hosted me for years and allowed me to buy and sell guitars told me a joke and I didnt appreciate it I would at least accept their apology.

Ill close this in the morning.

Forumites please lets let this thing simmer and keep the strong stuff on the downlow

Thanks

emanon..I agree and glad you at least lurk. Anythin ever fun for you lurking? and for the record Im happy.....I had a great weekend...told more jokes that went over than didnt...saw a good friend get married on the beach...picked up my 65 mustang convt from the resto shop and played a 2004 radience red silo.

life is good and the desert is turning great...cant wait for the bash

I think that the forum has been a fairly good source of income for some carpenters.

Not trying to hijack the thread, cuz thats the last thing I want to do, but BP, could you post some pics of that Stang when you get a chance? My mom used to have a '66 and I'd love to see it. :) On the topic of this whole situation, I didn't see the post and I really don't even know whats going on, but what I do know is that BP goes out of his way to help people on this forum, as do others that reside here, and I don't think thats it right that people take advantage of that. BP, thanks for making this place the way it is and giving us an opportunity to see and do all the things we do.

Hey here is a thread that I posted this morning that was inresponse to someone bugging Koogie. Let me issue apologies in advance if my humor offends anyone or makes them incontinent. It is funny but the controversy threads get the most views by far....but people claim to not enjoy them

No for the promised joke thread....(remember I already apologized)

Yanking Koogies Chain.......that got me thinking......Things to do BEFORE you yank Koogies chain?

1. Drop plugged in hair dryer in bathtub while you are soaking.

2. Tell Customs agent that the heroin balloon up you rear is about to burst.

3. Asking airport security Guy "is C-4 harder to sneak on than a Glock?"

4. Telling your wife that your sister is a better kisser

5. Make long slits with razor blade all over your body..then roll around in rock salt and battery acid

6.Tell the waiter in curry restaurant that he cant make it too spicy for you.

7. Start long thread about EVH

8. Invite Ed Roman to Christmas dinner

9. Have three root canals without anathesia

10. French kiss Oprah

I'd love to see the stang as well. My uncle (a body man in SoCal) has a 64 1/2 convert w/ all original parts ready to restore. It's been in storage for years and I remember sitting in it as a kid dreaming of driving it around. Hopefully soon.

By the way, even though we're not supposed to, this is one thread I don't mind hijacking.

I was "in the house" when this kicked off and I thought that BP dropped what I thought was an innocuous joke which Bent took exception to.
I don't know if the original thread is still here 'cos it seemed to get "misfiled" for a while last night.

Brent is one of the characters who had been on the forum for a while before I joined, and was always up for a bit of banter, and I for one will be sorry to see him go for good. My impression was that he had caught "Ebay - itis" and couldn't live without the buzz of buying and selling. He is not the only one who has bought and sold here. Let's not forget that he went through a phase when (after accountants advice) he sold virtually all his beloved EVH's at a time when his pockets were flapping outside his trousers.

He riled a couple of people but always came back to the house, and I hope that he comes back this time when things have calmed down.

He can't be all bad because he saw the light and got some great AL's.

Wow, I need to stop sleeping!

I didn't see the thread where it all went pear shaped, but I've seen the responses from everyone about it.

I'm not in a position to take sides and to be honest, it's not my place to anyway. The only thing that I've noticed (in general with all forums) is that sometimes the way things are written does not communicate the feelings of the person that posted the message. I can see that Brent was offended by the comment, but I can also see that Sterling apologised many times for the way it was phrased.

It's difficult to objectively look at these things when you're in the 'heat of the moment' and I do hope that Brent makes a return. It is a difficult thing to apologise and it takes a strong person to do it, but having seen many posts from both, I believe that both Brent and BP are men enough to move past this minor disagreement and get back to the purpose of being here, namely obsessing about the guitars.

Anyway, what's this about a KOA Axis then?

In Brents defense he is a standup guy!, I sent a case to him by accident thru ebay and he could have easily kept it~ but he helped out by reshipping it for me and as for BP we all know he's a BALLBUSTER that's part of his charm!BP feel free to use me as the whipping boy~ your guitars are so kick ass I'm willing to take it !I figure the way f@&der and other guitars I own F@#k'd me over in price /quality I'm use to getting screwed over!BP don't change over a minor misunderstanding~people (most) don't want a canned corperate response and company spokesman! We like people with personality~ life's short and no one gets out alive so be who you want!

Oh man, this board. This. Board.

Brent is a good guy, but this wasn't the first time he flew off the handle. I remember a couple years back that he had some pretty heated exchanges here with a fellow forumite on a sale that went sour. He's just got a temper, which I can definitely relate to.

Yeah I agree Shredderbetter, who wants a corporate wank in a suit blubbering along with politically correct mumbo jumbo? Forget that!

Brent here in Australia we have a saying, it's called "taking the piss." The idea is that essentially nothing is off limits when it comes to paying out on someone or having a dig at them. It's all in good humor of course and naturally, you return the favour and then some. After it's run it's course, we all laugh and then forget about it all and behold, the cycle starts once again!

Generally speaking, I find Americans adverse to this Australian tradition so that's why I tend to lurk here more than actively post.

Onwards and upwards!

So I stepped in.....and tried to calm things down....

I love everybody!!!!!! (maybe not the IRS,) I tried to step in and resolve the situation as if it were a bar fight,

Hats off to poppa for apologising, I'm sure brent will cool off over time, he's a good lad and the board would be a "different" place without him. He'll be back to the forum, I'd put money on it....

As for comments, maybe I was just as bad with all those mowing down the dude in the wheelchair gags....it was all humor brent,

I come here to relax and unwind, and shoot the sh!t about all things ball - my 19th ball T-shirt showed this morning, I'm in the knucklehead for life category.... I might not be able to always justify new balls all time (wife and kids come before my addiction) and as such I can see how I may be not in the top 10 customers!

I see it as a spcecial thing to be able to talk to Sterling in any way shape or form, I can see how people could be, dare I say, star-struck ? and put poppa right up there.... not pointing the finger at anyone just agreeing with the observation...

That said this is a place to have fun, perhaps a wonder wipe giveaway to lighten the mood (cheeky, I know!) -

I'm off to buy his 5th ball..... Watch this space.....

Smelly and his coffee enduced observations.

Hey Three Minutes if you are referring to Tristan..this is a very different scenario. Tristan left over a financial disagreement with our French Distributor. I was unwilling to get between them and quite frankly Tristan quit and I didnt feel that in the long term that we could make them happy.

Here is the exchange that got Brents pantys twisted....

" EBMM EVH ............... Original List Price?
Anyone remember the original list price on the EBMM EVH's ? Also, what price did they generally sell for at that time? (ie. any traditional discounts from retailers, etc.)

The original response by Brent did not have the retail it was added later. My joke was that the guy got pounced on to sell his guitar before getting the information. Like all humor there was some truth to it....maybe a little too much. It still boiis down to this not being Brents froum and if something like that sets him off and I apoogize and get bashed three more times on various threads then it just isnt right. I have had enough of the fanboy for poppa...sometimes maybe there should be some degree of respect.I think through familiarity which I have encouraged some people forget that I may have accomplished a thing or two that may deserve respect or benefit of the doubt. You dont have to kiss my ass but you also better not treat me as a punching bag.

I have tried as hard as I can to let brent take himself off the hook. It is now no longer his choice and we need to move on. You dont get to treat me like he has and be allowed to continue.

I want to remind everyone that the point that came shining through is that as members especially high post count ones here you can not use the forum for an advantage for personal gain. IF someone posts a thread wanting advice regarding value answer his question honestly and in public and then take it from there. YOur first sentence cannot be send me pics i want to buy it........

Anybody that wants to commiserate the loss of Brent may want to find another place to do so.

Lets get back to fun.

Also Istill think that Islandboy got pounced upon. Brent now says after the fact that he discovered that they were old friends....fishy at best.
