OK, boys and gals, who else misses the BFR badge at the 12th fret?

Sure some called it gaudy - or over done - even pretentious - but nay I say! It was unique in the industry, and let fellow players know - from across the room - that this was a *nice* guitar.

So bring back the badge!!!

Is it more expensive to do? OK, raise the price $50 and preserve something that *was* unique about our favorite model of ax.

Who's with me to storm the battlements in SLO on this most important issue of our time?! :D

yes, please, bring it back!
but only on limited runs, not on the regular JP BFR line or the Luke BFR line, only on really rare instruments.
just like the PDN series or the Dark Lord for example.
 
Im in the other camp.....I like the non badged look. More streamlined to me, less bling.......
 
Just having the neck plate as an identifier opens up a huge can of worms for people who may start swapping neck plates between instruments to fool people into thinking an ordinary base model is more than what it is. I'd say that is only a matter of time. The BFR inlay is almost iconic at this point. Getting rid of the inlay is akin to PRS getting rid of birds. It should at the VERY least be an upcharge option for those that want it.
 
Personally, I'm a fan without it. If there is an odd special edition... sure why not. For standard production it's a cleaner look without.
 
Either way I could care less. Reason - the "badge" did not signify a better instrument. There are a ton of people who don't even know Musicman makes guitars. I prefer the "custom" plate on the back. The headstock 4 x 2 design is unique in of itself and that is what lets me know it is a Musicman and the quality is there. Not the badge. My 2 pennies.
 
I agree with koogie, while I did not mind the BFR log at the 12th fret, it going away made no difference, the bfr on the neck plate is cool to me.

Now if you want to add something unique and cool then do what EBMM did on the DD I, add the BFR as a silk screen on the back below the neck plate awesome!!!

I vote yes for the same reason DrewH Stated, how easy will it be for people to swap these plates around or have fake ones done? It'll cause more trouble for a buyer looking to buy on the used market. Which I was before I bought my first Ball 2 and a half years ago, thankfully I've purchased 2 new JPXI-7/JP12 so I still have the inlay but it was attractive to me and it was a nice staple. Sweat I know it's doesn't indicate the quality, it never does even the lowest end EBMM Guitar plays perfect. I'm more concerned for the fraud aspect of the fact that the identifier is now a neck plate. Maybe engrave it into the wood inside the Trem Cavity or a hidden area so that it isn't so easy to fake? Just some food for thought.
 
I personally don't like it being at the 12th fret. It has always seemed out of place to me. But I would not be opposed to the idea of a BFR inlay on the headstock or some other way of labeling the guitar as "premium."
 
Do you buy something for yourself or for others?.. If one feels that a BFR is genuinely better than a standard then fine, the neck-plate differentiation should be sufficient. It's also much harder to fake as it would require an actual BFR neck or plate. I for one have a strong distaste for prominent labels anyway.
