After reading about it on these forums from other users, I decided the time had come for some more versatility. :D I played Floyds for years before my JP and can't see myself ever without a floating trem guitar... so I always avoided stuff like this! But hopefully this gadget will solve my need for alternate tunings on my JP.

It should be arriving in a week or two. Anyone have suggestions before I install it on the JP?

I put one on my Luke because I tune to drop-D for a few songs and i must say it works great. The only reason I put it on is because there is no drilling or modding needed to get it on, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

The tremel-No company has a great installation vid on Youtube that can walk you through each step. i would give you the link, but i can't access youtube at work. just do a search for "Tremel-No"

I've been debating one for my luke as well. We've got a couple of dropped D tunes and it would be cool to gig the Luke.

The great thing is that in drop-D you can still do dive bombs. You just can't pull up on the bar. But, you can also lock it so it plays like a hardtail as well. Very cool

I say take a loan out and for every tuning you want to play in.. buy another Music Man. :D

BP would love your way of thinking! He should hire you as a door to door salesman. How bad@ss would that be?

You - "Hey ma'am, can I interest you in a guitar?"
Lady - "I already have one"
You - "But you need another Music Man. Multiple tunings, right?"
lady - "I'll take 4"

NICE!!!

:D

I got one in my RG... I play in standard tuning, it's just that I love the fact that it turns it into a hardtail... I don't really use the trem much (well, it sorta changed after I got my JP :D), I just like the tuning stability it provides and I can always switch tunings on stage between songs too...

The only 'problem' with a tremol-no on a JP, is that you will not be able to reinstall the backplate. I bought another backplate from Pete (the plastic type) and dremmeled a hole in it to allow access to the t-no and keep my body/clothes from interfering with the thumb screws. I also cut down a pickup spring and placed it around the threads of the thumbscrews so they don't come loose on you and fall out.

Anyone care to describe what exactly a tremel-no does for the newbie? Much thanks!

I got this from their website...

The Tremol-No is a device that is added to an electric guitar equipped with a tremolo/vibrato unit. It allows guitarists to turn their tremolo unit "on" (so they can raise or lower the pitch of the note with the tremolo unit) or "off" (where the tremolo unit doesn't move at all; no lowering or raising of the note pitch via the tremolo system).

I use it to drop D on my Luke without knocking the guitar out of tune.

Lou, could you post a picture of this? I'd love to see this to get an idea of options for the backplate.
