Bruno Mars Albert Lee

looks like as it came like this from the factory: "custom Albert Lee"

Very interesting.

The pickguard does look a bit odd to me-- one thing I've always loved about the Albert Lee is the lines of the pickguard-- they follow the shape of the body sensibly-- and yet diverge in just the right places.

The way the pickguard goes up onto both horns makes me think of an old Fender Telecaster bass/original P-Bass. I prefer the regular Albert, but I would like to see more pics of that guitar. The pickups look cool. Maybe I'd like that guitar more with a different finish-- but I'm always excited when I see new content here that isn't one more thread about the Majesty/JP/DT. haha.

Yeah you're right, the normal pickguard is perfect for the shape of the body.

Interesting comparison with the 50s P-bass, that didn't occur to me.

I think it would work really well with the Y2D scheme, a purple sunset burst quilt top, and a clear pickguard. The extra pickguard wouldn't detract from the top, but you'd have the extra quirkiness.
