Allllrighty Boys (and, of course, Girls),

My Buttercream Bass is barely a month old. After each session of playing, she gets wiped down and tucked back into her case. There are no scratches, dings, or nicks. In other words, I take very good care of this instrument. So, imagine my surprise when I pulled her out for a gig tonight and find one of the rivets that hold the handle in place on the case is missing. Gone. Nowhere to be found.

I'm shocked! This is by far the nicest case I've ever owned, and it's missing a rivet. I have cases over 40 years old and they're not missing any rivets. So, how can this be???

Now my question to the forum, and ultimately customer support, is if this is a warranty issue? And, how should I go about having this repaired / solved?

Thanks

Tbone

Nooooo!!!! I feared that he would return one day but I thought he had been banished to his abyss. It seems that you are a victim of the infamous Rivet Troll. Let's hope that Rivet Troll attacks are covered in the warranty!

That sucks man, my case just sits in the corner looking pretty with a "Pay Up Sucker" Jesse James sticker on it, I just cart my BC around in my gig bag so my case hasn't got much use but it's still in one piece. No rivet troll melees

Whilst it's not an entirely desirable situation, I think it would be more hassle than it's worth getting the case back to a dealer/EBMM for the sake of a rivet.

You could buy a pop rivet gun & a pack of rivets for the cost of the postage alone (probaby $5 total) . You also get a nice addition to your toolbox (you never know ;-)).

Just my 0.02

I am in on way associated with Customer Service of any company, nor do my views reflect the views of anyone associated with any Customer Service representative, nor do I have a fancy case like the one in question, but I can't imagine cases - given what they are designed to do - being covered for rivet loss.

Again, just a thought from someone not remotely connected to anyone who would be in an actual position to know.

Jon,
T Bone emailed customer service the weekend. I checked with Dargin this morning. We will make sure that the rivet is taken care of.

Special request to T Bone and others...Make Big Poppa's day and let us fix the problem before posting the problem on the internet . If you feel we let you down then fire away

Tell you what.

I'm going to close this thread as:

1. Seems the rivet is being taken care of.
2. I need to sticky something about calling customer service first with problems.

BP, I'll await your call on this as it's your house, but let me know and I'll make it happen.

This is illustrative, this rivet business and the other thread about the buzzing single coil (has there ever been any other type?). It's my take that BP would like people to hit customer service first rather than using the forum to solve these kinds of issues.

Yes or no, boss?

I think I'm right, but my wife would probably disagree.

All,

Thanks for the response and suggestions. I especially appreciate the humor you all injected into this thread.

B P - my apologies for using this forum first. I was just so shocked when I noticed it missing, I immediately ran to the group I knew would offer me comfort and support . This is my third Stingray, yet only my first experience having to deal with customer service - which is a real testament to your Q/A.

Thanks again

tbone

ps - Scott has already sent an email offering up suggestions. What a company!!!

I'm just glad everything worked out for you, Mr Bone.

It almost always turns out this way.

Ain't we lucky?

T Bone and All

This was a good example of why for the first year or so I didnt offer cases for the bongo. We make about 5 dollars per case We dont make the case we offer them as a convenience. It was a good time to explain that when seeking help lets use the proper channels . Jack I would love a sticky that tactfully explains the chain of events in case of a problem. Rivet rivet rivet........
