Hi guys,

My new SS has developed a problem where some of the open strings are buzzing and resonating quite loudly with a long delay.

There is plenty of relief in the guitar so I took it to my tech who has said that its a problem behind the nut and that a string tree would be needed?

Anyone got any advice on this?

Many thanks,

Charlie

If the problem "developed" - meaning it wasn't there and then suddenly it was there - then something changed. The nut/headstock/tuner geometry negates the need for a string tree by design. Most likely a string tree won't be of any use and will be an irreversible mod. It's impossible to diagnose without seeing it, but I would get a second opinion before drilling holes in the headstock.

Do not go the "string Tree" route.

I am aware of a similar problem (happened to a friend of mine on the forum with his Axis SS)

He got it sorted under warranty.

Thanks for your replies guys. The dealer that I purchased this guitar from in June this year has now closed down. Will that affect the warranty or is it done through Musicman?

Still waiting to hear back as its been the weekend. So what options do I have when the guitar is under warranty - is the guitar replaced, repaired or refunded? I'm in the UK. Cheers

It would have been useful if you had posted your location. The rule of thumb is take it back to the dealer who would then arrange something with Strings n Things in Shoreham by Sea.

Still I'm sure the USA will point you in the right direction.

Note to knuckleheads - "hey guys, check out your details and consider at least stating your country of origin huh, please?"

Yes good point! Sorry forgot to mention I'm in the UK! So as my dealer (Machinehead Music) have closed down - should I contact strings n things directly? I'm very unhappy with this fault that has developed and just want it to get sorted ASAP :)
