Hi,

New here! I'm coming with questions about the Silhouette Bass VI:

1. Are they all lightweight or does it really vary? 7lbs is great, 9lbs is not. If I were to do a special order, can I ask for a lighter instrument?
2. How is the sustain?
3. Can you get flat wounds for them (E-E tuning)? If so, what set?
4. How bright are the pickups?
5. Is the neck profile super thick, super thin, or in-between?
6. Do they fit in a guitar or bass gig bag?
7. Any records people can direct me to where a Silhouette is used? I've heard online demos but that's always hit or miss. And it's not like there's one hanging in a store for me to try.

Thank you.

I'm researching silhouette basses myself now. I've come across a lot of videos on youtube with various playing styles. There's even a video of Joe Perry from aerosmith talking about how he doesn't know what the knobs do. He uses a silhouette bass on back in the saddle.

For E-E flats there's the Jerry Jones set, but
I must advise that I found the set I bought
was just a bit too short for string-thru-body.
I was stringing an OLP copy of a Silhouette
which did not have a top load option for it's
bridge. I don't happen to know if the actual
EBMM Silhouette has a two-way bridge. On
my OLP I just swapped out the bridge for a
very nice top loader from AllParts [$25US].

It's too long for a typical guitar case/bag.

Weird, I've watched that video before but just noticed that his has a Floyd Rose trem on it:

Silhouette bass owners: did they always come with schaller roller saddles? Mine does not have schaller roller saddles. I wonder if it was switched out by previous owners or a running change. Thanks.

Greetings. I just posted a long review of the Silhouette Bass at Talkbass. Rather than re-doing all the uploading, I'm posting a link in case you're curious. Short version: I found a good deal on a used one, I really like it, only issue is low E-string intonation and I found a workaround for the stock EBMM strings.

Very nice review. The Silhouette bass is on my radar. Hoping for a PDN that I like that works with the instrument, then will probably place an order. A roasted maple neck and board would be nice.

Do have a question the Silhouette bass. Can get an A-A version or E-E version when ordering. Is the only difference the strings that come with the bass or is there some other subtle difference?

Thanks. There are two different nuts and you'd want to check intonation if you go back and forth but that's it as far as I can tell. You can order an extra nut for the other tuning. Mine came with the alternative nut if I ever want to switch to A-A.

Thanks. Was thinking nut may be different. Good to know you can get both
