Can I buy an extra nut for my SR5?

I want to try a different tuning with my SR5 (EADGC) and I need a new compensated nut to do it. I want to keep my old nut in case I don't bond with my new tuning. Can I buy an extra "replacement" nut?

No, you can only buy compensated nuts as replacements for faulty or broken ones. Contact EBMM customer service just in case, you'd have to buy it through them anyway.

Got bored. Tried my hand at making one. I started with a double-sized buffalo bone blank, like I use for Rics and Les Pauls. I drew a radiused centerline and drilled partially through with a 3mm Forstner bit. The depth sets the compensation. I cut across the nut on the scroll saw just above the centerlines of my drillings. The string slots are lightly scored, and will be proper depth upon installation and setup. Fine trimming of the length and final polishing will follow.

I tuned a 5 string bongo E-C before, and used the original nut,,,it worked fine for me...

Even though you did a really nice job replicating the nut, I also think you would be fine with the he original. I would give that a try before switching them out.
