Seriously, the OP has nothing to worry about with the EBMM finishes, they are not the triple-dipped-in-a-vat-of-nail-polish finishes seen on many imports.

The finish is so thin on all 3 of my Balls, that you can see the wood grain when you catch it in the light. If finish did make a difference to tone, I really don't think its an issue on MM guitars.

Yes, I believe the key is the thin finish, not the finish material. You can definitely see the wood grain on the nice thin poly finish on the EBMM's. Stripping and refinning it would not get you any tone improvemnet, IMHO.

Yo guys... fullerplast is real stuff, and quite possibly it WAS or IS used by Fender.
Here's the link to a source, take a second or two and just read the qualities of the stuff. Note the drying time, which would certainly save time/money in the painting process. I personally can't believe this silliness being brought up about conspiracies. Sheesh.

PatPark is on the money when he said the Nitro used today is nothing like what was used in the 50s and 60s. Today it is made to wear as fast as possible to get that yes-relic look.
