He makes a mistake on the end of a little unison run on the "Live Scenes from New York" DVD. In the commentary he says, "You can't win 'em all."

He muffs a note in a really basic part of Damage Control the 2005 G3 Tokyo gig.
(@ around 1.38) - then nails all the rest !?!

I heard him miss a couple of harmonics during a solo when they were touring with Queensryche. He still makes a lot fewer mistakes than most other professional musicians.

I've also heard Paul Gilbert make a mistake live. If he can make a mistake, anyone can.

ive seen one !!!
its on youtubeon metropolis new york during the song HOME 1 bung note he hits ill try and find it for ya

It's just before the breakdown where james does the talking over the muted main riff after the first chorus.... he hits a major instead of a minor and it sounds terrible!

That said... he is the greatest guitarist I have ever seen or heard or heard of.

Vai made a few obvious mistakes that are on the Crossroads 2004 DVD.

I haven't yet heard any real bloopers from JP.......but I'm not extremely familiar with Dream Theater. Although I like the variety of time-signature's they use, their music is just a little too heavy for my taste. (old fart alert) I've heard plenty of their covers though. Great guitarist.

Mistakes. Everyone makes them. I made a career out of them. lol

With JP mistakes are funny, because he seems to make so few of them in some of the most difficult parts. Then, he'll surprise us with a mistake, proving he's human.

Mistakes are mothers to all success. Sad to say I have no offspring yet!:D

O/T: Malmsteen mistakes a lot, on stage. But he made it like he is getting into form for the real play. Haha. The Pro does it best!
