Hello fellow Music Man fans.

This has more than likely already been noticed by the fine folks at Ernie Ball, but just in case it hasn't been, I figured I'd throw it out here on the forum.
I ran across a company that seems to be making and selling Petrucci Knock-off guitars, Music Man Logo and Petrucci signature included. To anyone who's familiar with the guitars, it's obvious they're knock-offs, but it still isn't right to me.
Here's one of them: Music Man Ernie Ball John Petrucci JP6 Electric Guitars, China Guitarras Musical Instruments, Free Shipping-in Guitar from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com

Of course they've got all kinds of different brand knock-off guitars in their inventory, but they've also got several different "Petrucci" models, as well as some old Ibanez JPM knock-offs.
Shop Petrucci online - Buy Petrucci for unbeatable low prices on AliExpress.com

I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done, given that the company seems to be in China, but like I said, I figured I'd throw it out here anyway. I'd hate to think that some poor unsuspecting (and unfamiliar)victim may pick one of these up thinking they got an amazing deal.

How people have the nerve to do this is beyond me. At least (thankfully) they don't have the ability to produce a proper replica. I hope they get their butts kicked by EBMM's attorneys.

It is theft no doubt passing off these knockoffs as the genuine article. But lets face it anyone who knows anything about EBMM guitars and is familiar with the high quality specs and components is not going anywhere near these China atrocities. Yeah you might get some people who just want something that looks like an Ebmm guitar but i have to think that it wont be too many, at least semi serious musicians.

They do that with everything from designer bags, to watches, to automobiles! They're really a rogue country with no respect for trademarks, patents, or copyrights.

Trollie is moving to China to steal everyone's lines, haha.

guitvai1, I don't disagree, unless (like I said earlier)someone just happens to be unfamiliar and naive. I can see some kid saving up his allowance to buy one without knowing it's not the genuine article. Maybe he's a recent Dream Theater/Petrucci fan and hasn't taken as close of a look as we do. Know what I mean? Either way, it's just a shame the lack of respect. And craftsmanship for that matter, LOL

In all seriousness, the disappointing thing here is that there are people in the world who will be fooled by these. People who have seen JP or EVH or Luke playing an EBMM but whose country or city or financial situation means they may never actually put their hands on a real EBMM. So they buy one of these thinking it's the real deal and they got an amazing deal.

Make no mistake, these manufacturers wouldn't be making these if they didn't sell them and make money, so somebody is buying. So people buy these and inevitably they are crap, and the buyer believes that it's a EBMM and for the rest of that kid's life EBMM is crap to them. It's a real shame.

And the worst part is if you search for "Music Man" on that site there are DOZENS of different EBMM models, some more convincing than others. How is the Chinese government not stopping these counterfeits?!?

I really feel for BP and the EBMM family -- it's f'ing hard enough trying to run a successful business in the USA with the 100 things working against you without having this nonsense.

Really disappointing to see this…

... How is the Chinese government not stopping these counterfeits?!?...

Chinese manufacturers make a lots of copy, not only guitars, everything. Like cars :

Shuanghuan Sceo: Chinese BMW X5 Copy-Cat Coming To Europe! - Carscoops

Chinese government explain that, for us, they are many differences between the original and the copy, so you have to deal with.

Foreign company have no right in Chinese laws

And be careful with the electronic part, paint, or wood resistance, etc. .

At the end, these chinese copy are not a big deal.

Yup, Ali's been around for a long time. Any serious player isn't fooled by them, they are for the less fortunate "wanna be" souls who can't afford the real deal (and I feel for those guys). I don't think those sites take ANYthing away from EBMM's sales, it's a totally different price point. (a person buying a $200 guitar really isn't gonna choose that over a $2000 guitar).

That said, I have never played one of them, nor have I ever personally known anyone to buy one (such that I could play it), so I can say nothing about their quality (or lack of it).

The Chinese government does crack down on companies making counterfeit products. They happen to be the same companies that have forgotten to pay off the government to look the other way.

Just the way the entire world works, unfortunately...if you think different you haven't examined it enough
