My "pieces of ____" are neither dinged or rusty....;)

Last time I checked, I did not put my Z-06 on a guitar strap and jump into a mosh pit. (But, you have certainly opened up an entertaining idea for me. :D)
My H2 does goes off road, but the lift kit and tires keep it from getting dinged....couple of brush scratches...nothing major.
My Subaru...gig car...inside is a little dinged and scratched from loading and unloading gear.

I am all for taking care of your gear. My Lava Pearl Bongo is immaculate. Gigged 2 times, but nothing crazy. My Stealth is immaculate and I gig with her regularly. My LE...something about it...it is accident prone. Can't seem to help it getting war wounds.

It's getting fixed. Neither were my fault.

Just so you know what it is:

is it such a hard concept to understand why people who spend very hard earned money on these beauties would want to keep them looking new as best as they're able?

Not at all. Believe me, I would love for my LE to have stayed immaculate. I think we all would love that in a perfect world. However, I play in an extreme metal band and we perform. Both musically and visually. I just can't stand there while we are burning the house down....I have to move. Moving adds to the danger of dings, scratches and what not. I also jump in the mosh pit while playing...can't help myself.

My LE is beat up because it is the best sounding bass (of all my bongos) and I use it for most of our songs. Hence, she has more stage time and that increases the possibility of it getting hit and what not.

I spent my money on this and I fully intended to play it at gigs. I knew it would get war torn....but, that was my decision. Not eveyone plays and moves like I do...so, others here and abroad will not have the scars I have...some will have more. People constantly comment on how great my sound is and they love the bongo. Many of my fellow musicians out here have seen my bongo, saw the scars, and told me...."My bass would never survive that!"......

Again, I am all for keeping instruments pristine. All my other ones are....just so happens this one is not. I play 'em like I stole 'em.....but that is me.

Would be nice if they stayed perfect, but they don't. It happens sooner or later, so I don't usually sweat it. The one thing that does drive me crazy is dings in the neck. I can't stand that. Other than that, if it works, I'm not picky.

The first ding is always a bit tough... After that, all's fair!

But these are certainly players - dings, scratches, bumps and chips won't affect a darn thing when it comes to what we're laying down!
