Last month I was lucky enough to find an all rosewood necked Classic Sabre through Musician's Friend. I originally had a maple necked Sabre last year but sold it because I didn't care for the gloss on the neck and preferred rosewood. Obviously I got everything I wanted with this bass. The neck feels fantastic. I believe it's the oil/wax that they put on their satin maple necks.
What's interesting is that while my last Sabre was transparent white and this one was listed as transparent white, the colors are completely different.
The transparent white is on the left, and mine is on the right. As you can see, mine is like a vintage blonde.
I also made a few quick recordings of this bass with GHS Precision Flats. This bass DEFINITELY gives off a Fender vibe with flats in all positions. Position 4 (rear neck coil) is fairly close to a precision I think and if I didn't know any better I'd think that it was a p-bass.
The recordings aren't great as I don't usually do it, but I think they're a fairly accurate representation of this bass with flats.
