Hi, first of all, I'm new in the forum so I'd like to introduce myself, I'm a guitar player from Mexico and I've been a fan from music man guitars ever since I knew that John Petrucci and Steve Lukather were using them, gotta love those guys.

Anyway... I got a problem in my music man jp-12 7 string guitar, whenever I use the tremolo or for that matter, I turn the bar in circles I get some sort of clipping noise. This problem only happens if I'm connected to an amplifier even if the guitar has no strings on it, I'm guessing it has to do with the electronics of the guitar. So here's a pic of the electronics hopefully you can see anything.

Now... there's some circles in the image, the red circle marks the wire which I'm guessing is causing the problem, because I fiddled around with the wires inside the cavity while the guitar was connected, and I didn't get the clipping noise, but whenever I touched that wire(the one circled in red) the noise partially disappeared . The black circle marks the place where the wire's coming from.

So... How can I fix this? Is my hypothesis correct? What should I do to that wire? Should I check something else?

Thanks! :D

Edit: This also happens when I roll the tone knob, but not when I roll the volume knob.

Thats not the ground wire for the trem is it? or perhaps the tone pots?

that would likely be the cause. I should take a look at the inside of JP 12 and see what mine looks like to compare.

Bump. Which points should the ground wire come in contact to? I'm a total disaster in electronics :(.
Edit: That wire has fallen off. What should I do?

It looks like that wire grounded the plate on the back of the cavity.

Rather than guessing, call or email the customer service folks (in my signature). They'll get you sorted out.

I thoght that too Beej.
Its a piece of spring steel. You bend it, so that when you put the plastic cover on, (which underneath has a metal shielding) the wire is in contact with the underside.
When you first look at it, you think that because it doesn't terminate anywhere, it must have come off.
So if you do as I suggest, it may save you time - if that doesn't resolve it contact CS?
