I have been a Slinky guy for ever, But Friday night I put on a Pair of Cobalts and OMG they kicked some serious Ass, I was really blown away, the difference from an already amazing string was incredible.
Thanks Ernie Ball for always keeping EB top notch on everything you guys do.

Cobalts sound great on my sterling but are a bit crisp for my stingrays.... but find em great for all guitars.

I have wanted to try these, but wondered about fret wear. I read somewhere that they "chew up" frets pretty fast; I ask because I am currently using Stage III flats. Love the flats, but want a more aggressive tone to contrast with my non EBMM basses.

To have a more agressive tone it would be enough to use Regular Slinkys. There sure is some contrast between Group III Flats and Slinkys.

BTW I don't think that Cobalt Strings would eat your frets faster than other roundwound strings. As long as you use reasonable force. ;)

Hey orpheus55,

I've been using the Cobalts since they first came out. I probably log 6 hours a week with that bass, and to date, there's no visible fret wear. My goal is to play that bad boy enough to require a fret job. :)

I used Cobalts on my Music man reflex for a whole 2012./2013. season and didn't noticed any unusual fret wear???  ;)

Honestly, why would anyone care about fret wear? Seek the string that gives you the tone, and crown or refret when the time comes...
My Stingray 5 wears cobalts, Great stuff:)
