Compensated Nut - Always had them?

Have Music Man guitars always had the compensated nut? I ran across this used Silo listing, and noticed in the pic of the headstock that it did not have a compensated nut, and wasn't sure if it was due to replacement by the owner, or if it was made prior to the introduction of that feature.

Not really. Can be done but nut slot position and width are necessarily different.

I was thinking the nut slot would need to be expanded just slightly - but I'm a dummy and have never added a compensated bridge (although I love having them) - so how complicated is it?

Not complicated if you are adept at cutting a bigger slot in a very hard wood on a guitar neck. It's a job for a pro, or a well-equipped amateur with enough wood working experience (if you have to ask you probably don't) - or a neck they are happy to risk damaging.

Yeah, there are a lot of things I'd be very willing to mess up in the process of learning how to do something. The neck of that guitar? It's not on the list.
