following on from a thread yesterday I thought I'd ask the question... what condition are your EBMM's in....? some of forumites here are very troubled about the slighest little mark or imperfection on their guitars...:p and thats fine but for me a guitar only really gets character when it's been used and abused the good old fashioned way.... and when it's "reliced" through use... I find myself not worried if I see a little ding or scratch... so come on and tell us what condion your Balls are in...???:D

Still smells new. It is a week old as of yesterday. I just removed the plastic from the control cavity about 3 days ago. But I do plan to gig with it and get some wear out of this one!

I need them live and so they look. I won´t sell a guitar once I found the sound I was looking for.
And if I ever have to sell them for money reasons, I think that little extra for the mint condition I couldn´t care less. If you need money you NEED it badand I´m not talking bout: I need money for the latest car, you know.

mine are all pretty good, if i bought it new then they stay pretty new, gigged or not. I look after them as they cost a lot, but i dont baby them too much, i dont have time.
yep I understand that... but with the sheer ammount of balls you have Rob you can rotate which ones you use quite a lot....;) I tend to use my Luke for almost all my work.... it's showing signs of wear and tear.... and I love that....:D it's becoming very nicely worn in... and as long as the frets are in good condition and everything works as it should then I'm not bothered by the odd nick or ding..

my first JP6 is nearly mint, for being nearly 7 years old its doing very well.. will need a refret next year i thinks... but there is not a scratch on it, not even swirls marks in the paint!!

and my newest JP6 is absolutely mint, and it will stay that way... i got it sunday and gigged with it that night :D was setup very well from the factory. i will be lowering the action a bit though.

All are in tip top shape with a couple have the usual stress crack and of course the Fuchsia Sparkle Silo Special has a ding in near the jack where it was dropped by the guy that had it before me.

My Ball is in a great condition although it's being played and gigged constantly. I look after it.
But you can see it's played a lot from the fret wear :)

Mine was in top notch condition... until last Saturday

Whole story is here:

Still is a great guitar, but the first damage is always a bummer...
yeah I saw that... first damage is a bummer.. but now you can quit worrying about it.. play that guitar and play it in.... I love old guitars that feel great.... I have a friend who has gigged his Luke about 5 times a week for 11 years... it's been refretted 4 times and it's amazing.... it's just got mojo now that only comes from time and use.... it's got battle scars here and there but it's fantastic....

I put my first real ding in my JP Saturday night. A friend and I were jamming and we both turned to look at each other and the bass hit the headstock on my JP and put a small ding in the top of the headstock on the bottom edge of the curve. I knew it was a good bang so after the song I felt it and looked at it and sure enough - it has it's first 'battle scar'! The EB finish is strong as hell so it didn't chip the clear coat off or anything. I think the guitar sounds better now (kidding of course)... :D

It is mint otherwise...

I have some that aren't going anywhere and I scuff 'em up. Others I know I'll sell and try and keep them in good shape.

My Morse has had the neck carved, body routed for a battery compartment and I dropped my dremel on the back so it has a nice scar. Couldn't care less, it's my desert island guitar and is not going anywhere. I'm about to route my pinkburst Albert for a battery compartment too. **** it, they're not for sale.
