In France, selling a counterfeit item is a crime. Buying one also ... I think it is the same in a lot of countries.

It is the same if you buy a copy of a Rolex in China. When you go back in Europe (or USA I think), if the custom officers find it, you will have a fine and they will destroy the copy. As a buyer, you are legally responsible.
