WOW man did not expect this to last any where this long:)

Thanks for the responses, and there will not be new pics, as I just cant deal with the floyd no matter how hard I tried to convince myself, love the Axis concept, 2 hum volume and simple 3 way switch, if hardtails were available I would have one.

Now the scoop in case someone is interested, what got me to post this and try to convince myself is one of the local GC's has an Axis in the limited Black Magic Crystal, the finish is awesome in person, the pics I have seen did this guitar no justice, the back is finished in the color as well, plus very nice neck and fretboard.

And Smelly I agree it aint 1986:p, if it was I would be buying it, not that I played guitar back then, my hair would still be half way down my back and I would still have that GTO:D

Anyways if anyones interested in this guitar PM for details.

Thanks again, now thinking about something else, but thats the world of the crazy fing beagle:cool:

You know Fing, you got to play what you feel is right. Love my Axis, but the 2hb AL is so addicting that I can't put it down... I know you love to have new cool stuff (we all do) but if it were me I would just be sitting back and enjoying that surf green beauty you just got, except mine would be black with a vintage pearl pickguard... Crap!!! I'm at work and thinking about the AL--- when do I get to go home???

LOL Stratty you have that down, playing the hell out of my surf green baby and constantly thinking about it, sick puppies we are:D It is just that this Axis has been there for over 3 months, and they have it way up high so no yankers have messed it up, and the color calls me to it so unique, man I talked to Pete today and said no way I can do it, but like I said in my original post, my mind works way to much on way to many things, So you never know:confused:

I think everyone is on point as we all conclude that it is a bit of a pain in the ass restringing a Floyd but the bottom line is you throw on a CD start cranking something your into and before you know it it is done and time for fun. As an Axis is just a fun guitar to play. It is as if it has an auto pilot switch.lol

I've only ever had two MMan guitars without Floyds......both JP 6's.....not sure if this has been covered - but it's possible to get yourself up again so quickly with a Floyd......

Floyds are easy and I find them much quicker for emergency string changes during gigs etc....

Example (and this is just my preference)

1) String the guitar with the 'ball' through the tuning peg.
2) Allow some slack and snip string length. Lock into bridge. (Remember - too little slack will defeat this example, and too much will mean too many windings - as I'm not at home I'd estimate that enough slack should be to hold 3'' above neck PU).
3) Hold string taught and begin winding - get a string winder to save time
4) Over-tune and stretch out string - lock down and fine tune.

Now:

1) When /If you snap a string, just unlock the bridge and remove remnant of old string.
2) Unclamp the locking not and pull 'broken' string tight.
3) Loosen tuning peg and pull string through until long enough to be re-clamped at bridge end.
4) Tighten at bridge end and re-tune. (Remember - the string has already been stretched at this point so no need to do this - should be stable as all the other strings)

To make the guitar workable again in a live situation literally takes two minutes! Even with a floating bridge - as you wil be tuning up to the same tension, the tuning will still be pretty much perfect from before the string snapped.

As you'll be using the same string(s) for a while - get some coated ones.......

Next week: How to use egg-cartons for amps! ;o)

Jeeze, a floyd takes about 2 extra minutes of my time. It's non-floating, so I don't even see the issue. Floating floyd's I can understand, they are a bitch to tune. The tuning stability is well worth an extra two minutes when I change strings... I rarely have to retune after a I've got strings stretched out and locked in, no matter what I do with the bar.

I wrap lots of string around the pegs too... I've played shows where I broke a string at the bridge, unlocked, pulled some extra string down, locked it in, tuned and continued playing all during the run of a 3-4 minute tune.

I love my Floyded Axis guitars and tuning is no big deal at all, it's setting up the guitar (action etc.) that can be a bit of a pain and some times time consuming.

Real men play hardtails. Its simple. Get with the program.

anything i've ever had with a trem i've locked down as best as i could. Now all i'm going to buy is hard tails... i've never been one to do crazy dive bombs anyway so why use em... now it's just to find the next EBMM too many choices and not enough money to buy them all...

Now that sounds interesting:cool: Matching headstock and killer birdseye maple neck and board? I think that this color is even more limited than Hot Rod Red, I haven't seen one out there in GC land. Can you still use the 15% off deal?

I hope Mr Fing isn't like me and suffers more than one type of GAS. I would have more balls by now but pro photography equipment is uber expensive too.

Go for it Keith!
