The owner of the guitar shop I'm getting the DD2 Luke from actually has an Al that was routed for SSH and Floyd. He also had the fingerboard re-planed with a different radius and refretted for the floyd. None of this was done at the factory of course!

I had to call him and ask him about it to jog my memory because after reading these threads, the Al DOESN'T come with humbuckers nor Floyd Rose. That guitar played like butter and was pretty much perfect as a rock/metal guitar.

Hey Grumpy i was just having fun...if the demand is sufficient Ill make em but I dont see that with this type of guitar.

One small change that would be easy to do and i think make a really nice option would be the HSS config for the Albert stock/ BFR with the Humbucker coil tap split to make it either single or double. That would be a perfect option for people who would like to use the guitar for more than just SSS applications....The Best of both worlds with a flick of a switch and i assume this would be low cost or a minimal upcharge to produce.I would buy one.

Hope i am not out of line suggesting this just seems logical to me with the amount of people digging this guitar but wanting Humbucker tone in the bridge as well as single.Since i put in my mini Duncan hotrails i have found this guitar to be very versitile, but have kept my other BFR tremelo vintage SSS for its original sound. With the tap option i could have both.

A 2-bucker AL. Never thought I'd see one of those. I may have to get one now. VERY awesome, Thanks BP.

Now all we need is a 2-bucker Silhouette Special and I'll have a dream come true. :D

HSS is very versatile, particularly if you're playing live. I've been holding off ordering a Silo Special in that configuration because I want to see if rosewood necks will be offered again. I have a HSS version of a very lightweight guitar that goes by your name (they don't make it HSS any more) and it was my "main" before I got my AL. Now that's an ugly guitar shape!

Well, in acutality, we already have one with the twin-hummer Sub 1. It doesn't have a silent circuit, the pups are not DiMarzios and the body isn't Alder, The first two can be rectified and I personally like the poplar body with Silo spec Dimarzios. Definitely a great wood.

So my recommendation is to buy a Sub 1 and pop your fave hum's in it and rock out...

Now back to Albert Lees. I am encouraged by not reading that the rosewood board is out of the question on an Al. I sure hope to see some in the near future.... BP, if you get a chance could you tell us a little about the three Als with RW boards that are hanging on the wall? I for one would be interested. I am assuming they might have been prototypes or something.

OK, fair enough recommendation. Here's why i haven't done that yet.

The SUB 1's have of course been discontinued, which makes availability a problem. I want a white one in hardtail, and all I ever seem to find are black and red ones. Occasionally a grey or teal one will pop up, but those white ones seem to be rare birds.

I don't like the painted necks. Sure, I can strip it and refinish it with tung oil, but I'd rather have EBMMs superior craftsmanship of the Silhouette necks right out of the box.

I prefer the locking Schaller tuners on the Silhouettes.

The pickups aren't an issue for me because I'll change them anyways, but I would appreciate not having to rout out a Silhouette for a humbucker and getting rid of a perfectly good silent circuit.

I like the Body contours of the Silo's better than the SUB 1's.

I think there's enough differences betweem a 2-bucker Silhouette Special and a SUB1 to justify a new Silhouette model, especially since the SUB1 is now no longer in production.

When I see a white HH SUB1 in hardtail pop up I'm grabbing that mother and I'll change it to my needs and live with it. But I wouldn't prefer it over a HH hardtail Silo Special if the latter was offered as a production model.

BP I'm sorry to suggest another thousand variations for you'all in the factory to hypothetically contend with.
But it's an idea that isn't far fetched, there's lots of folks that like rosewood boards and ALs...
How's about a pet or Morse with maple?

How's about I keep my stupid ideas to my damn self? :)

Nothing to see here and please accept my apologies for the bandwidth usage
