This almost didn't make it to the album (released this Saturday) because it was just such an outlier, unlike anything else we did - to say the least.

It's full title is "To The Dear Leader Kim Jong-un On The Occasion of Your Glorious Birth" but of course we refer to it as "Kim Jong-un" or simply "KJU".

Our own dear leader, the illustrious Tee Fitch, wrote this using words that he simply lifted from North Korean publications and whatnot. He showed it to me and Andy (drummer), we played it twice, maybe three times, and chose the weirdest take we had. It was FAST.

I was going to string a BonGo with rounds, maybe a 4 banger because there aren't a lot of complex notes in this song, but in the interest of efficiency simply used what I had in my lap at the time: a Big Al 5H strung with EB flats.

Hope you enjoy!

ROFL, sickness! Reminds me of the stuff I used to play in a 3-piece (band, not bathing suit) in the Boston clubs in the early '80s and we actually got paid for it. Airborne beer and spit!

That's very witty!! Gotta love the bass sound as well. Talking of Craig Young (mentioned in the credits, Jack do you know if he's still got that Heinzesque SR5?

Not sure if he does - he likes to make fun of me for playing fivers so I kind of hope he does have it because fair is fair.

He's playing a Big Al 4 on tour.

"Our Dear Marshal."

Is that what you had everyone come into the studio to yell? KILLING me.

Okay, last bit of band spam:

coWpilot's debut album, filled with Music Man basses and Slinkys and EB Flats and me personally, is available now on iTunes and CDbaby and every other slightly reputable music retail outlet - and it's CHEAP, too.

We cleverly named the album "coWpilot".

Big thanks to Scott B, Sterling, Brian B, Derek and all at Ernie Ball Music Man without whom etc.

By the by, one of the things I insisted on, and eventually got my way on, was on the back of the CD where we thank Kim Jong Un and etcetera, it says, "Jack plays Music Man basses."

Proud of that little bit, by golly.

so cool :) sounds like an early punk rock band

Well, I wouldn't judge the entire thing based on that song - it was definitely an outlier and SOME PEOPLE didn't even want it on the album. (I was not one of those people.)

The rest of it isn't like that at all, although I wouldn't mind doing an entire collection of songs dedicated to current world dictators. Gotta hurry before Fidel dies, I guess.
