We've been playing some songs from the twenties, and I am learning to Be The Tuba.

Did you know that if you're very careful, you can get a decent tuba out of a Bongo?

But you have to use forceps and lubrication, lots of lubrication. As in most things, lubrication is your friend.

But, um, anyway, if I can get a tuba out of a Bongo, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to get a trumpet out of your guitar. Might be the battery.

Heh.

"It's always the battery."

the just sit right back you'll hear a tale..........

Man..I played an SR4 string through today that sounded like a piano. There will be a certain nut out there who will be very happy in a couple of days.

Andrew, I just noticed that you quoted me in your signature...Cool!:D

The other day I did a search for premium natural and there was a thread that included the flamed ash body photos. I think someone asked if they could get a body in all alder. To this you replied "I alder kick your ash". I couldn't stop laughing and it reminded me why I love this place. EBMM instruments are GREAT, but because of this forum I know for a fact the people that make them(not to mention the folks on this forum) are awesome people. I can't help but be proud to play EBMM. :D

My little red Axis Sport sure made me smile this evening. Sure, sure, it's not a bass...but it was calling to me. I can't play it at all, but it still sounded good through a Peavey Basic 112.

It's hard to explain to people who don't know the forum, and sometimes I don't give it much thought, either, but the fact is that I consider all of you friends. Some of you I know better than others; some of you actually come over to the house or join me on stage for silly antics or fly with me to Ohio to see the Dots, which is ever so cool.

Some of you I met in person once or twice during a crazy weekend that cemented a number of 'imaginary' friendships......and some of you I've never met, but I know you anyway.

And there are some amazingly funny, talented and intelligent people here.

I guess it's hard to figure out without being a part of it for a bit? I don't know. But I know that I see lots of good will, plenty of rope to hang yourself with if you really want to, some excellent musicians, one hell of a company, and people committed to quality.

I do - I promise you - feel badly to some extent about the very few who believe they're not getting what they want out of either the forum or the instruments, but I also know in my heart that EBMM instruments are top-notch and the people who stand behind them are always ready to back those instruments up.

I salute you, Knuckleheads, Forumites! And I'm not even drinking!

Jack

PS: If you can't get a trumpet out of that guitar, you really do need to check the battery.

I had a 1956 Les Paul Junior for a long time. The pickup had gone weirdly microphonic and sometimes it would sound like a wolf, far out on the range, singing that lonely wolf song.

But then sometimes it also sounded like a rabid badger, ripping the guts out of some unlucky, screaming small mammal.

You know, I don't miss that guitar, really.

Yeah, but if you still had it to sell today, you could probably put the Kid through college on the profit.

It's amazing what people will pay just because something is "old."

It's all in the approach. Why act like a dick if it's not necessary? I was one of those that had a slight finish issue that likely occurred in shipping. I emailed Jon offline because it was between me and EBMM. I was confident that they'd treat me right so why be a dick and splash my issue over the Internet. Needless to say, Jon took care of me, and I still can't put that damned Bongo down. Actually, the only thing that's going to make me put it down is taking delivery of the HH Sterling I'm waiting for.

Jon, BP, Beth, et al, thanks for everything you do. You guys should run seminars on customer service. Come to think of it, you probably should run seminars on a lot of different business issues.

Paul...

Lets try to start over. Im sorry if I blasted you, but from my perspective you sorta had it coming. How about if we give it one more try and keep the emotions out of it.

Lets try to fix this thing properly...first off it should have gone through customer service but not that it isnt here's what I suggest.

1. Send the bass back to us. Both Jon and Dudley with thoroughally inspect, tweak and make it the best it can be. We will do this work promptly and free of charge...you just pay to get the bass back to us...,we will silp it back to you at our expense.

2. Take it to he most competent repair/service person. Have him coordinate with Jon and hook the bass up to a meter and give jon the readings in various output and tone settings. If these readings are bad, Then return to step one. If they are within spec then really the bottom line is that the Sting Ray just may not be the bass for you.

How about it?

But let one person, for whatever reason, become dissatisfied, and then it's "Oh My God! What's happened to EBMM quality?"

I've had six EBMM basses so far, and have two on order...they're doing something right as far as I'm concerned.

I can get a barking spider sound from my Bongo when I want...

...it's all in the set-up and execution.

That's the extra mile that everyone is talking about. BP you are the MAN, and the love you have for your company and your customers shows each and every time you put yourself out there.

In the same way you're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to express mine. As I said, I don't believe you're aired your grievances yesterday in a particularly adult way - and those people who know me here no that name means nothing in particular! In the UK it's akin to calling you an idiot with regards to how you expressed youself. Call me names if it makes you feel better, I don't care!

Again, just my opinion. You complained about the response you got from Sterling but I can guarantee you wouldn't have heard ANYTHING from the CEO of another company.

With most people here, including myself, it's not what you say, it's HOW you say it. I just think it was uncalled for.

Yada frickin Yada. Thats what I hear.

Those Rays are so hard to get a good slap tone on. That explains why Flea and Louis Johnson used em so much.

My apologies for the way I handled it. Name calling and such is much more "muppetheadish" though. I'm running out of ink from printing all this out.Let it go as the Big man wants to, as do I
