Never played a JP6 or any of the JPs for that matter. Stepped into the local GC tonight and inquired about the EBMM clearance going on and ended up with a fully loaded JP. It should be here Friday.

Sight unseen/played guitars anyone? They have always seemed quite popular on the forum. I figured with the GC return policy I'd only be out shipping which was under $15.

The neck on a jp is a little thinner than the axis. Jp's are pretty sweet, I don't see how you could go wrong.

No, you did not make a mistake...unless you haven't told your wife. But then the mistake wasn't buying the JP, it was not telling your wife.

Don't ask me how I know this...

Wait - you're supposed to tell your wife? :)

It's ok to tell her. Just hope she doesn't sell them for what you told her you paid for them when you kick it.

The GC 30 day return policy is one of the best ways to test drive a guitar risk free...
It's often very difficult to get a true feel of what a guitar can play & sound like in the noisy, arcade environment of GC.
We've brought many guitars home, do a quick clean up and set up, then test them with our own gear. Within a few days, or sometimes minutes, you can tell if it's a keeper or not. Many have stayed, many have been returned.
There have been a few that were brought home with no intention of actually keeping it, but wanting a few days just to see what the fuss is all about...that sometimes backfires though... :)

As for you and this particular JP...either you'll like it or you won't. Like the Oracle told Neo..."no one can tell you you're in love...you just know it..."

Good luck!

The only mistake you will make,is that you may want a Majesty, which is no bad thing
I got my first MM,a JP6,purely on the recommendation of a friend, who had sold his and regretted it..He now has 3 Lukes
It was three years ago,i was watching the score dvd,and asked my friend what that guitar was..I loved the mystic dream finish, and Petrucci is a hero of mine..He said if you want to treat yourself, and be blown away, then buy one,you wont regret it
I was blown away,so much so i have the JP6 BFR in cherry burst, and will have a Majesty next month

I have searched this earth for the perfect guitar, and i have found it in the JP6..The piezo still makes me smile..All guitars should have this option. The fact you effectively have an electric and acoustic in one guitar,is worth the admission price alone
I hope you love yours,as much as i love my two

You've made an excellent mistake good sir! ;)
What kind of neck profile do you like? The instrument will be of high quality, but the feel of the neck and fretboard compared to what you're used to is likely the make or break factor IMO.

Hope to see some pics of your guitar soon... ;)

Bought my JP6 without testing it. And no return policy as well. Best purchase of my life. Best guitar I've played.

My wife saw a guitar for £120 in our local store, she assumes my EBMM guitars are around the same price! I may tell her one day..............or maybe not

Mistake? I would first say no, but, I play JP's and love them. If you are not used to a flatter neck it could be a quick annulment. For me, I can easily go back and forth with the JP and Axis. Two completely different necks though.

I have three balls, and the only one that I played before buy it was the Luke (and it wasn't the one that I finally bought). I bought the JP7 on the bay before testing one. Same for the Y2D. I'll do this kind of mistake again :)
