Cause Musician's Fiend says he did.

"This famous Leo Fender design is highlighted by its distinctively shaped pickguard..."

Now, even I know that Leo was long gone when the SR5 came into being. Don't know if this is heartburn material, but just thought I'd mention it in case anyone needs to be "correctly informed." Or, am I insane and he actually did design it? Perhaps I need to be set straight! :D Anyway, just sayin'! As you were...

Fender / SR5

Leo was still alive when the SR5 came out - he died in 1991.

If I do my math right - 20th Anniversary SR5 this year...

You're correct about the year of Leo's death but he severed all ties with MusicMan in 1980-81, way before the SR5 came on the scene.

Ok...

I guess me stating that Dudley and I designed it wasn't enough

OK, I'll shut up now - it was my feeble attempt at humor. I was only responding to the original note that I thought was saying Leo was long dead before the SR5 - when in fact the poster meant long gone from MusicMan.

I don't post much, and here I go sticking my foot in my mouth...

Cheers to Sterling and Dudley!
