Hi mbgreene,

what does this mean: "the recently considered more than two years out of production so available for international shipping policy"
I am desperately looking for (NOS) Axis Sport guitars in Europe.
Hot damn!!! These colors available at Royal are so extraordinary awesome!!!! But all of them do have this unspeakable tremolo. I absolutely do not like tremolos.

BP recently said that they may allow limited or special edition instruments that have been out of produvtion for more than two years (i.e the 2004 LE's , the Dargie and 20th Silhouette in the near future etc. ) to be sold by US dealers from their stock internationally, which they cannot do with current run instruments according to their dealer agreement.

I asked Dan if this would include the Sports because although they are not a limited or special edition piece, they discontinued production about 5 years ago. According to his response it seems to be allowable.

MB, I can assure you that when it comes to the Axis Sport, all bets are off as far as international shipping and sales. It's wide open ...

Dan

So you may be able to contact the dealers he listed and see if they would be willing to sell and ship overseas. Current exchange rates are real favorable and some of you guys may get some great deals and the dealers could move some old inventory and order more new Balls.

EDIT: guess I should have read the last page before answering. these guys did a fine job.

Thank you guys for your answers.

@5stringer: I checked Royal, they have some of the nicest colors I have ever seen on Sports, BUT do all have that tremolo, which I believe and experienced, robs tone.

Do you have something like a stock list for all European distributors/dealers, such like you posted for the US dealers?

Having owned three different versions of the Axis (Floyd, vintage trem, and hardtail), I can't say that the vintage trem robs any tone. I think it does yield itself to a different tone than the other models, but I can't say in my experience that it takes away from it.

The ash body really does gives the Sport a different sound than the basswood-maple SS model.

Ok, maybe I was too over top when saying that a tremolo robs the tone. Maybe I should have said: It doesn't match my playing style and sound taste pretty well.
And I must admit, that I never owned a tremolo equipped EBMM guitar. I realized pretty early, that tremolos just do not do the job for me.

Nevertheless - if anyone ever wants to sell his hardtail H-H or SSH maple fretboard Sport in sparkle or "lollipop" finish - I am here waiting :D

In many ways, you can argue that the tremolo actually helps increase the tone and sustain of the guitar, as it increases the mass of the area that the strings are in contact with.

You could always block the trem, in the same way the Clapton does.

headcrash, unfortunately there is no system inventory system set up like this outside of the U.S. and Canada, because everywhere else we just ship to an individual distributor, who in turn resells it to individual stores. Perhaps some of our distributors have some sort of way to track down individual instruments. You could click here and check: http://www.ernieball.com/international-dealers/

I did find one hardtail Sport (I even called the store to make sure they still had it). I am PMing it to you.

@ jimmyb:
I have to admit that you might be right. But it's just the feeling, that the strings thru some solid wood just has to sound and feel better than through some piece of metal hung up to two screws. But, man, it' so much about feeling. Maybe there is no obvious proof to such things, and my belly feels: tremoloes is nothing for me.

@ Dan
Many thanks, you are so great guys. Just checked my pmbox....
