Hi all!

So I got my Dimarzio Cliplock strap in the mail today wich I ordered on Ebay. I just installed it and I think it's great. There's just one thing. I put in on it's highest setting and it's still kinda low. I like my guitar high like Petrucci. So is there any way to put it up higher?

Thanks in advance, Mats

I'm afraid that you pick up a longer one. They have few sizes and as I remember John uses the shortest one or sth like that

No it was brand new still in it's original packing and stuff....Bought it from a real store who had in on Ebay....But I looked on the Dimarzio website but there's nothing about different lenghts, just about different wideness....2inch or 3 inch. I got the 2 inch one. Well I put my old strap back on untill I find a sollution...

I have the same issue with them and took them to a place that does sewing and took about 2 inches off of one end of the strap itself.where the maile end of the lock is. They are perfect now. Took about 5 minues.

That's a good idea. I thought about it before, but doesnt it lose a lot of its strengt that way? I think I'm going to do that. Thanks!

Call DiMarzio customer support... I believe you can get a shorter strap from them. I read somewhere that they had 2 different lengths available.

I have the Dimarzio quick release strap, the one with the rather bulky ends. To be honest, not that keen on it. It tends to creak as you walk around, no matter what guitar its on. Think I'll stick with good old fashioned leather end ones!

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't feel it was necessary to start a new one:

Does anyone know if the DiMarzio cliplock system fits without any additional drilling in a JP6? Additionally, will it void my warranty if I fit one myself?

Here's a thread where I have some experience. ALL of my guitars have Dimarzio cliplock. The standard length is really long for some reason. Dimarzio WILL shorten them on request at the factory for free. They trim off about 6 inches and stitch it back together. If you buy it in the store, it is NOT shortened. I have had all of mine shortened and they are perfect. You can mail it to them with a note, but you'll have to pay shipping back.

jappy, there is no additional drilling required. Just unscrew the strap bolt and replace it with the strap clip. It's a five minute job and is a MUST. It won't void any warranty.

Get one. I learned that because I had a guitar whose strap came undone and the guitar fell to the ground cracking the body beyond repair. Thankfully it wasn't a ball. I've used cliplocks ever since. The natural cotton is THE BEST!

I'm sure the EB locks are awesome too. Different idea altogether, but as long as your guitar is safe, that's what matter. They weren't around yet when I bought all my cliplocks.

Never tried the EB ones, obviously. Schaller strap locks came standard with my 1989 $trat Plus. I got DiMarzio Cliplocks for my 1991 Ib@nez. Both systems are really good. I think a locking system is almost a must for getting up on stage with any regularity.

Wow thanks for the super fast response!

I have a feeling I might shorten it myself. These straps are hard enough as it is to come by down here, without having to send it all the way back to DiMarzio.

you could order it straight from Dimarzio, but you'll have to pay retail. That's usually what I do because stores rarely have cotton anyway.

I myself have used the Dunlop straplocks on all of my guitars... they do a great job. I'm wondering if cotton straps are more comfortable?

I didn't know EB makes straplocks.

I have a Dimarzio strap (just like Steve Morse) on one of my guitars. It's a good, secure strap, but I also don't like the little pieces of strap that are still attached after you unclip the strap.

If those bug you, then cliplocks aren't the way to go. I usually play standing up or in front of my TV, so it's doesn't bother me. I never liked the "clingy" sound strap locks make
