Does anyone have an opinion of the SWR SM-900?

I have an Ampeg 1X18" cab for the lows and an Ampeg 4X10" for the mids and highs. I have been told it's a good amp for splitting the signal like that.

Had one for 4-5 months... nice sound, it is bi-ampable... but I found with my set up it sounded much better running full range. I know guys who swear by their 900's but I like the bi-amp feature on the GK rigs better.

My $.02, if you can find a cheap PRE-FnDR 900 look into it, otherwise look elsewhere (had LOTS of support issues once FnDR took over)

Well, now I am all confused. No Stingray. Gibson is on the fritz. Amp isn't what it used to be. The Lakland costs loads more and wouldn't be ready for 6 months. Music Man is backlogged until October. And I am out of beer (Boddington's Pub Ale for anyone who cares.... )!!!!

Bleh, I should just stick to guitar and forget all this bass nonsense.

I'm pretty sure Steve said he can get a 30th Ray in your hands way before October.

I believe many people (including me at one point) that have tried the biamped route find that the final result is less than the sum of the parts. Meaning, the rig will almost always sound better in full range mode than split up as a biamp.

I'm sure there are exceptions, and the GK amps & cabs are designed for biamping from the start, but I've seen it discussed many times.

Get a nice solid 4x10, 2x12 or 6x10 cab (something nice and solid like that) and run the amp full range. If you don't like the sound of the amp, then just swap it out for something else (talk to Travis on the side for some ideas....)

Yeah, Steve's got 30 on order from back in January that are due anytime.

Jack's reference to October deliveries is in reference to *new* orders placed at this point-in-time.

They have a truckload of Ltd Eds on the way that aren't spoken for, too. I haven't looked recently, but I'm pretty sure they have one of every model available coming in soon with the Black/Gold Ltd Ed. I know the Bongo 5H is gone, because that's the one I wanted.

But, other than that, they're all unspoken for, I think (maybe one or two more gone). Of course, that will change quickly when they start to arrive....

Soda Im confused...but ive been to Kentucky...I know where big bone lick state park is and turfway......First you want a sr then a ric then a lakland and maybe a gibson and steve has a 30th that will be here in less than two weeks......who is confused?/////

Actually, I am not REALLY all that confused. Well, no more than usual. You gotta take anything I say with a grain of salt. Basically, I just tend to say goofy ****! I will most likely go for the Stingray from vintagebass.com. Apparently they have quite a good reputation.

The Rickenbacker is an interesting bass. Having only been made for a short time in the 90's. The Lakland is nice as well, but I will probably pass due to the price tag. And the Gibson I have had for ages. It's just getting old. Kind of like it's owner.

As for living in a "cult d sac", it's true that people here seem to have taken the English language and run it through a meat grinder! I am a native of Whidbey Island, Washington! And it was quite a culture shock arriving in the land of the "Howdy"! (Most hated quote: "Ya'll know any SKEEEEEEEEEEEnyrd?")

Running out of Boddington's was not an act of carelessness. It's a bit difficult when you walk into a liquor store and ask for anything besides Coors (pronounced kerrs), Bud, or Miller Lite! They look at you like you have just arrived from Mars!
