Go for it. If you take it to a luthier, he should know how to do it.
I did it myself to a setneck I have. The original profile was round and beefy and I wanted more Silo-like. If you want to copy the Sil exactly, Stewmac has a cool tip to copy the profile. I did mine by feel. I took a rasp and filed the neck till my hand started to feel comfortable. I sanded smooth and oiled. It's now oiled mahogany and feels great.
