Most of the bars we can afford to rent usually run us up 100 to 140 dollars. You can get an idea how nice they must be. Bathrooms are a plus. Water in them is unheard of. At least you have half decent electrical outputs in the states and police in case it gets rough... we just got luck and wits...

The worst kind of trouble I've had in my day in these kinds of places is stuff getting broken we never pay for... because Im smart enough never to sign for anything... and claiming ill come back with the money...

Haven't had this issue - don't play out often enough and we're selective about the jobs we do take.

But...

I have "dreaded a gig" for other reasons - Like I am a bit on edge for tonight's show.

Guitar player who's acting crazy lately and a front man who's "not gonna take it any more" - I'll be so thankful if we can simply get through the gig without making a scene.

I'll be ecstatic if we actually make good music.

All you need for those gigs are a bongo and big amp. You can blow the dirt out the door. :)

So how was the gig Ritchie?

Well, the police were there three times.

They arrested some moron for trying to sell meth.

Then two smelly cowboy types got into a fight.

Then two other guys got into a fight over a pool table.

Then two girls got into a fight in the bathroom. Over a bag of weed.

The bouncer, who didn't seem very good at his job, was the brother of the band's old bass player. So, he was less than friendly.

Some rather large girl made an attempt to flirt with the entire band.

I quickly made sure she knew I was married.

There was some local heavy metal band in the audience rolling thier eyes, pointing, and laughing at us. But, I pointed out that we had a gig and they didn't. They didn't like that.

They charged me $2 for a pitcher of ice water.

And when it was all over, the bartender shorted us $100....

So, all in all, a lousy time was had by all..... :(

This is why I get in the mood to sell all my gear and take up gardening....

Ritchie,

That sounds like an average gig to me! Remember, you don't get 'road credit' if you can't smell the restrooms from the stage! ;-)

I had a gig once on New Year's eve and a huge brawl broke out in the back.. someone ended up getting thrown through a glass window. It was a hoot!

Dang Ritchie I kind of liked that part of the country until you described it so.

I wouldn't let anything make you sell the equipment. A garden isn't a bad idea though.

On a lighter note, the Ibañez performed well.

Not nearly as well as my Dargie, but not bad.

And the MarkBass was the bomb!

And my pals at Pop's Music came out to support, and that was nice.
