I finally get to see them!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally get to see them!!!!!!!!!!!!
There we go. I knew there had to be a disconnect somewhere.
Scott...we were both right, brotha!
Wow there is lefty fail all over the place in this thread...
but i think they are bigger than maiden nowadays
Yeah, that's why Maiden sells out arenas while DT plays to mostly filled amphitheaters and mid sized venues as part of package tours.
I love DT as much as the next guy, but some of these posts are just silly. By their own admission the only way DT gets anywhere near a place like like MSG is as a guest of a larger, more successful band.
i forgot about maiden long ago, monotonic songs now, they all sound identical to me, DT opening for them is like having an idol covering bon jovi playing after bon jovi performed.
may be a huge honor for DT, but i think they are bigger than maiden nowadays

Backstreet boys sold out arenas too - hahhah
is that the criteria when judging music quality?
I like a lot Bruce's voice, and solo albums, but Maiden means a lot of monotony for sure. DT is from other dimension ...
and all of this are subjective perspectives of course![]()
It's really quite odd (and amusing) that so many folks are taking this as some sort of personal attack on them as fans.
For every DT fan that doesn't want to sit through Maiden's "boring, repetitive" songs, there's a Maiden fan that doesn't want to sit through DT's "boring 10 minute long wank-fests, with their terrible singer".
I don't get it.

It's alright, Jonah. I, like you, enjoy both bands and am doubly-excited. The nay-sayers just don't understand this milestone for Dream Theater.
So I'll ask this question of everyone else: If you had the chance to open for one of the bands who inspired you to become a musician, wouldn't you do it no matter whether you were more popular or not?
I sure would.
