"Wait for sleep"

I think the keyboard/piano part at the beginning is just beautiful. I also like the interesting chord choices behind the verses.

Pull Me Under..........Not sure why but the song just does something for me! On a related note......The new DT album "Octavarium" has been getting not so good reviews from some websites i`ve seen. Too pop sounding, one song people are saying sounds like U2 ect....Apparently Mike Portnoy shut down their forum due to leaking of the new album that hasn`t been released yet! Sounds like a mess but i will check the new cd out anyway.

Someone sent me the album the other night, and I've listened to it. The song "I Walk Beside You" was compared to being a "U2" style song, but I actually enjoyed it - it's different from normal Dream Theater stuff, and that's exactly why I enjoyed it. The only band I know that has always remained the same from album to album is AC/DC. Change is always interesting.

That being said, when the CD is for sale on Tuesday, I'll be buying a copy, no matter that it was leaked to me.

EDIT:
The "pop" style of the song is only poppy for the chorus, probably why I could enjoy it more.

You're lucky that wasn't a Metallica album, or you'd have Federal Marshalls at your door! :D :D :D

Voices.

It's got everything: Haunting melody, excellent composition, cool lyrics and a great old-school wah solo.

For me, it always comes back to "Learning to Live." I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. It was back in the summer of 1992. Images and Words had just been released. I got home, slapped the cd in the system, and was in no way prepared for what I was about to hear. By the time Metropolis came to an end, I was left in something simular to a catatonic stupor, complete with jaw dropped right to the ground. When I heard "Learning to Live"....it's just something about that song. It effected me in a very profound way. The melodies, the arrangement, the lyrics, it is just musical perfection on so many levels. I have had many favorites from different albums throughout the years, but in the end, if I had to pick just one, it is, and forever will be "Learning to Live."

For me? I have to agree with Pull Me Under. It's what originally hooked me on DT back in the early 90s. Frankly, there's not a bad song on IAW. I just can't believe their talent. Of course, it's also somewhat depressing - because I will never be able to play guitar like JP. Having his guitar didn't help as much as I thought it would ;) .

By the way, Scenes is my next favorite CD. On TOT, I love Stream of Conciousness.

Ok...more than you asked for, but I'm a big DT fan :D .

If I could count A Change of Seasons as one song I'd go for that. Otherwise, I really like the Glass Prison - in fact the whole Six Degrees album is awesome

Not at all an easy pick...but I would have to say "Home" from Scenes From A Memory. That Middle-Eastern flavor with that killer groove is just awesome. "As I Am" is pretty badassed too. And Peruvian Skies...jeebus, there's just too many to chose from

Great choices!!!

How about Endless Sacrifice? Cool ballad/heavy chorus/great breakdown/amamzing solos/bad-ass outro!!!!
