Hahahaha...lol! Does that mean what I think it means? :D

Like yourself, I rarely post on any of their forums. In fact, the only forum that I am a member of, is John's. I have been a member of that forum for 3 years, and have a little over 200 posts. That pretty much says what I think of their forums. I try to visit daily in the hopes of finding something insigtful, and I often leave empty-handed. I read very few posts, and post on even less. Most of my posts on Johns forum come off is sarcastic or argumentative, simply because I get so annoyed with the abundance of ridiculous posts over there. Just because I can be like that, doesn't mean I like to be. I enjoy the more relaxed climate on this forum much better.

Truthfully, I think there is a much healthier climate for Dream Theater/John Petrucci fans right here, then on their own forums.

I'm pleased to say I haven't heard any of the new album - I'll buy it on Tuesday and give it a fair listen. I'm going to see them in August, so I hope the new material is good - Hopefully, less Train of Thought, more Six Degrees. regardless I'm sure it will be good - they are the best in the world at what they do - I'm sure the new album will have some spectacular moments. I agree with a previous post which said that you don't have to like everything from a particular artist - I like the fact that DT are permanently evolving - otherwise, why would we listen?

I'm realize you're question was rhetorical. However, I will further emphasize you're point with another question. Isn't it refreshing to see an artist evolve and capture different moods and styles from album to album, without completely alienating their fanbase (i.e. Queesryche)? I mean, how many of us here have heard one of Yngwie's later albums and said to ourselves: "Oh no, not again." Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming Yngwie. He is a great player, and was a true pioneer of the instrument. But let's face it. there has not been a whole lot to get excited about with his recent efforts. That is one of the reasons I love Dream Theater. They have those inate chacteristics that make them Dream Theater from album to album. However, within that, there is constant evolution. In my opinion, that is what makes a band truly great.

I hear that! I was a HUGE Ryche fan for YEARS, until 'Empire' came out. I can listen to that album a little, but the following ones are unbearable. I did buy a few of them (Hear in the Now Frontier, and Q2k, I think) and I just can't connect.
I even have Geoff Tate's solo album, which has 1 decent song on it, and the Rockenfield/Speer "Hell's Canyon" album which is awesome.

I met the band at a record store years ago for a meet'n'greet, and got all of their autographs on some vinyl album sleeves. Nice bunch of guys (except Eddie Jackson, who was being an arse that day). I still think they peaked at "Rage for Order" even though Mindcrime was a cool album, what with the concept thing and all.

I still really enjoy Queensryche - I thought Promised Land was a great album and better tour - at that time, I had just bought Promised Land and Dream Theater Awake and couldn't split the two - very different albums and in my opinion equally good quality in terms of songwriting and playing. I think Queensryches biggest problem has been losing Chris DeGarmo and trying to replace him with players that don't have the style or quality, especially in terms of songwriting. I did quite enjoy Tribe and the Art of Live, but they are far from classic albums

What's your favourite Dream Theatre Song and why?

is there any other song that strikes you as much as the intro of A Change of Seasons?? sure not... it's completely a great song...but the first song that made me one of the biggest fan of DT is "home" i canT explain how shocked i was when i listened to it for the first time..the middle east melody, and the heavy guitar just beofre labrie starts to sing...killing...i have many friend that got DT fan thanks to "Home" :)
to be honest, last two albums are not so good as the previous ones such as SFAW, ACOS, IAW...but there are good songs as well...this dying soul, endless sacrifice, honor thy father, in the name of god from TOT, never enough, panick attack from octovarium....and the drums in Never Enough..may be simple but it's amazing...just amazing

Hmm tough one, I really liked The Spirit Carries On from Scenes from a memory but I also like Hollow Years. Haven't heard Octavarium yet though, gotta drop by and pick up a copy one of these days!

Since I share a common affliction with MP:

- The Glass Prison / This Dying Soul / The Root of all Evil / ? / ? /
(There should be two more installments the way the steps are generally worked)

Musically:

- Hells Kitchen / Lines in the Sand

Best Album:

- Metropolis II: Scenes From a Memory

"Another Day" might be my favorite Dream Theater song. It has a "pop" sound to it with a great guitar solo. When Dream and Day Unite, Images and Words, Awake, and Falling Into Infinity are some of my favorite discs. I've only heard clips of Octavarium, I plan on buying it to give it a listen. I like some of what I've heard from it.
