Hi guys,
So I just put together a sample for the Act 1 MySpace

it's a 2007 LE Sting Ray 4 HH going DIRECT INTO an MBox and NO eq'ing or nothing onboard or outboard, just a chance to give a bit of an idea of the different coil configurations.

Lemme know what ya think

I was looking for a sound clip, thanks very much!

Although the most difference I hear are between first and fifth position. But that can also be caused by the quality of my speakers of course.

Terrific! I never really considered a regular StingRay until now  I've always been a 5 string guy (6 on guitar) but to get this sound I might actually drop the low B! Anyway I can't afford an EBMM right now. Maybe when I do I can get one of each, a 4, a 5, and a 6 :p

Do you have any other EBMM that you can record the same way so we have a direct comparison?

thanks for checking it out guys.

it looks like we should have an HH Sterling5 and HH Bongo 6 some time in August so I'll be sure to do something with those guys too.

(most likely, finally, more OVRDRVN YouTube vids!!)

Hmm - My Stingray doesnt have that tone going through my amp, there must be a big difference in tone going into a soundcard, rather than an amp

ok, well, then the MBox must sound different than an amp, cause you are getting some great tones out of that setup, and I dont get those from my amp

Sorry, sorry, been a bit of a long day, end of the day, all that yadda yadda.

and yes, this is just the sound of the SR

and yes, that is why the search for amps is always fun....

I plugged my Stingray directly into my Avalon U5 and hooked my headphones up to the Avalon U5 and I got the same sounds you were getting with the MBox

the Stingray sounded much clearer and transparent through the U5 than through my Ampeg SVT CL

Try a MarkBass rig... really! ;)

Sorry for the hijack... back on topic: Would be nice to have the same sound snippets from a SR 4 HS too, so we could compare the two options.

for first position I had my thumb at the front corner of the bridge p/up for positions 2-4 I had my thumb on the back corner of the neck p/up and plucked fairly consistently in between the two p/ups. For 5th pos. I had my thumb on the front corner of the neck p/up.

for the chording shizzle, I tried to pluck in the middle of the 2 p/ups.

...and sorry for not the freshest of fresh strings but I think it comes across well as to the voicings of the coils.

I really just wanted to hear you slap the hell out of the middle position.
But that's just because it's pretty much my favorite sound in the whole world.
