Years ago Rocktron released a product called a Taboo Artist Preamp and with it an EB pedal was supplied to be used as an expression pedal. Was this a standard EB volume pedal or was it a special design to be used as an expression pedal? I'm in the process of connecting an expression pedal and if I could use my EB pedal or even a EB junior...

I have used an EBMM volume pedal as an expression pedal in my rocktron midimate. You need a 1/4" male stero plug to two 1/4" male mono plug cable.

You plug the stereo end in the expresion pedal connector on your appliance and the two 1/4" mono plugs go in the input and output of the pedal.

You then calibrate your pedal with your appliance and midi program a CC channel for the expression pedal and all that stuff !

Hope this is what you wanted !

Hello

You can use your Ernie Ball volume pedal as an expression pedal. In my case I use a mono volume pedal and a Digitech RP100.
You just have to connect the output of the volume pedal to the expression pedal input. It works very well :

The RP100 is in the parallel effect loop of the amp. The Ernie Ball volume pedal allows me to choose the amount of effect (mainly delay) I want to inject in my "raw" sound.

Best regards

I don't know if that gonna help but Jordan Rudess on Live at Budokan DVD shows his keyboard setup, you can see he has a EB volume pedal and he said he is using it for that wah wah keyboard parts.

So it works same for guitar me thinks

To bring up an old topic...

I'm currently using a Boss FV-300L stereo volume/expression pedal to simultaneously control two devices via a TRS cable plugged into each of its two output jacks.

Can the Ernie Ball stereo volume pedal also be used as a dual expression pedal in this way? The FV-300L is a decent pedal, but the more i use it, the looser it gets, and i'm concerned that it's going to be useless if i can't keep tightening it up.

:D

Please don't mock the Morley's! Yes, I hate them. I like the sound and the switchless-ness of the wah, but hate the pedals. They are built like ****e.

As soon as there's an active EB volume pedal I will be using it! I may just have to suck it up and use the wah when it comes out, even though it's switched. :)

I went through a phase of trying to find a good volume/expression pedal. I tried everything I could find. I finally ended up getting an EBVH (Ernie Ball Voulme Hammer) or two. I just plugged a 1/4" mono cable into the output of the pedal and the other end of the cable into what it was I wanted to control.
It worked like

talk about a thread from the past! I should pull my finger out and set mine up. After all, I did ask the question in the first place.

Let's not get into any finger pulling around here. :D

I'm currently trying to figure out how I would mod an EB volume pedal to work as an expression pedal for my rackwah. Right now, it uses boss pedals.

Hm. I'm trying to figure out if you answered the question or not. ;)

I'm assuming that you're using the EB volume pedals as expression controllers with your Ground Control. Do they work with 1/4" TS or TRS cables?

What i really want to know is whether the stereo volume pedal can be used as an expression pedal with two devices simultaneously.

I have found dunlop isn't that helpful with matters like this :(

It might be possible, but you're gonna have to mod it for sure. The normal dunlop controller for the univibe is pretty similar to the one used for the rackwah (remote expression, on/off, etc) and the EB pedals can work but it takes some modding and IMO doesn't sound quite the same as the stock pedals.

I know, a late response to the initial question...

I am using an EB VP Jr. Passive pedal as a controller for my Boss GT-6. I currently use the pedal to control the amount of delay.

I can set my GT-6 programs to allow the external volume pedal to control an unlimited number of parameters: wah sweep, uni-vibe rate, whammy pitch, etc. etc.

You can also use it to control midi gear.

are you able to post some pics of how you have it setup?

Hi Colin, thanks for asking.

In my setup, I connect the EB VP Jr. "OUT" into the "SUB EXP" input on the GT-6. The key is configuring the GT-6 to perform functions using the "SUB EXP device" if you will.

As you can generally see in the diagram, I run my guitar (through splitter and wah) direct to the amp input. The GT-6 is run through my amp effects loop. The EB VP Jr. function is only to control delay output in my current setup.
