So I quasi recently purchased a 1992 EVH in lovely deep red.

The Good->

I paid 300$ for it. Yes, three hundred, not a typo.
The neck, body, paint, and physical components of the actual guitar are in great shape
The Color has not faded!

The Bad ->

it NEEDS
- new floyd rose
- new 3 way switch
- locking nut

Ernie Ball is pretty infamous for not being easy to get replacement parts. If someone can ball park costs to get replacements, and how I can actually go about getting them, I would greatly appreciate it!

Well, that friendly statement should garner you lots of help around here.

Seriously, many of us have called and ordered parts from EBMM. And in my experience, the process has been ridiculously easy. Call CS in the morning. See if they can help.

What Norrin said. I never had an issue getting a part from EBMM so not sure what you base that statement on.

Aside from the trem everything else will be very easy. That tremolo was discontinued 17 years ago. We have a tremolo that will drop in but you'll need to send back the original before we can sell it to you. You could also seek out a Gotoh after market replacement. I dare you to call me toll free at 866-823-2255 to get the ball rolling ;)

Haha, I didn't mean the customer service was poor, I meant compared to say, Ibanez, you can't just "order new parts". You have to mail in your old ones to get new ones kind of thing. That is where the "difficulty" lies lol.

Appreciate the responses, I will give AJ a call here, thanks guys!

You use tonal sandwiches for achieving that 5150 tone too?! Thought I was the only one.
I find a tri-tip sandwich on top of my Axis really makes the wood sing.

I think I would get the color checked out because that doesnt look red to me, It looks like 1 out of 200 pinks. If thats the case its worth 10 times what you paid for it.

Here are two that I have one is a Pink Evh and One is a Red one.

My thoughts exactly ! It could be the camera ..... however it is certainly worth having the serial # checked! That is officially the best price I have ever heard of on an EVH ! I picked up one for $1150 shipped that I thought could not be beat. HA !!! Boy was I wrong ...........

I know that Customer Care will tell the "born on date", but not sure if they can tell you what the factory color is.. I would ask them anyway..

Neale is definitely right as that is Pink! When Red fades it does not turn too Pink unless it is the camera and some kind of first I have seen, on mainly all faded models I have seen the headstock was last to be affected and for some odd reason usually holds the color much stronger. Exactly what is the issue with the Floyd? I would search around and see if someone could get it up and running smoothly which would add a few grand to the value of the guitar and keep it mainly original.

Headstock sig and EBMM logo tells me it is red, as I believe pink should have black sig and logo. But the photo looks pink!
