I think 12 bar blues is something we've all done a billion times. It would be cool to do something a bit different.
I mean, 12 bar blues is fine with me if that's what everybody else wants, but I've got a feeling that we're all gonna immediately turn our "cliche switch" on when we start jamming over the good ole 12 bar blues. :)

I love metal but I'm not sure everybody does ?and it's the closest thing for metalheads and country fans to meet at OR we can post a few different ones blues ~metal ~country~ funk etc.?I don't do country but Im down with metal~ blues~etc.how about some "yngwieish"type tracks?or am I dating myself? neo classical what the hell is that? That way every one can have a few options to use.Are we trying to get REAL music or midi based suff to start? Maybe the bassist side can help us out?I'll try to post one this week METAL so get your chops up!!

I'd love to get in on this, but I don't have any computer recording stuff. I'm thinking about getting a line 6 toneport ux2, which comes with "ableton live lite" recording software. would this work?

Okay...I've got some drums done...I'd like to forward it to some bass guys and see what they come up with. It's kind of a funk-fusion beat, and I'd like to completely leave it up to them to come up with a chord progression. Let's stay away from the 12 bar blues for now. Or if Ivan wants to come up with something on the keyboard and we can add a bass line later.
I was thinking we'd come up with a melody line and then a different progression for the solos, and possibly even modulate up and down during the solos to separate the individual players...
I created the drums in acid with live drum loops and can always change the location of the fills later.
Let me know how we should proceed...

Software compatibility

I think the best way to do it is to start off with an MP3 of a rough stereo mix...almost any daw should allow you to open it up and add your track(s), and then post the new mp3 with the new track added. We can all build like that, and when we feel that a project is worth mixing, we'll get all of the individual tracks over to someone who can mix it all....
does that make sense? anyone else have another idea????

I think it'd be cool if we did multiple tracks, in different styles, keys, etc. We could all learn a lot from something like that, since it would put us out of our comfort zones :p

Just admit it Sub, you want to do chopsticks. ;) :D

If we want non-complicated, I've got a few basic rocky riff/tunes I made up when I was about 18 that we always mucked around with as a band.

Since last weekend's fun with my mate's stuff (The Glasgow Kiss thing), I've gone out and got a sound-card and basic software. Still need a cab-emulator to get the sound right, but I can record a few minutes of it for the 'pros' to re-record with their ideas and right sound ?

It's a start ?

LATE EDIT : OOPS, Sorry JeffreyB, just saw your post with the drum / funk thing..... forget my post

Dizzy, if you have something ready, go ahead and post it, and we'll start playing around with it...maybe there could be a new thread where each member posts their own interpretation, and then we could edit them together...???

I'm running Logic Express with a POD 2.0 as input and a JP. I'm ready for some riffage, although I can't shred cheese or lettuce.
