I've noticed that I can sometimes hear an "echo" coming from the body of my Luke when I play a chord. I don't know if it happens only when I play a certain way or if it always happens but I notice it only some of the time.

The echo appears to be coming from the cavity which has the springs holding down the trem bridge; it might possibly be the springs themselves...I'm not sure.

I don't know if this is good or bad or what, and it doesn't bother me. It just seems strange.

Has anyone else had this experience?
 
Hi, Yeah I've experienced this. It happens with trem equipped guitars if they're particularly resonant - which all EBMM's I've played are...this is a GOOD thing! :D

I guess to put it simply the spring cavity at the back of trem guitars is almost like an on-board spring reverb, u shouldn't here the effects of it too strongly but it is noticable and it does effect tone. Personally I notice it more unplugged.

Eric Clapton purposely has the trem of his guitars blocked because he doesn't use the trem but I've read that he has all 5 springs in there at full stretch (claw screwed in all the way) to create a better reverberation and resonance from the chamber.

I've experienced this on my Axis, a Melancon, a PRS and a Brian Moore but have never had reason to let it bother me.

Just had this come up on another forum and I fix the problem by cutting a slim slab of foam (like from a box a pickup comes in) and slide it under the springs. Another fix was to roll up a foam earplug and place it inside each spring. I might try that one also but what you don't want to do is bind the springs from moving any of course. Pipe cleaners cut to length and placed inside the springs was mentioned also.
