Ed's demo's are the best bar none. Great post. His demo of the 20th SR 5 got me in the EB/MM fold, I owe him.

Agreed, it's more of a demo than a review. He does say that it does everything well, but on the whole, it's a very neutral, if not "sterile" presentation. He's got alot more to say when he's reviewing, oh, the Fender American P 5, for example.

But yeah, overall I like his reviews, and for sure he's a very good player. Check out his myspace page.

He does seem to love the 20th SR5 but seems less enthused by the bongo 6...but his reviews or 'demos' are just amazing and it is what convinced me 'I must own a stingray'

I'm proud to call Ed Friedland a friend of mine.

You should see him play upright on jazz gigs. Makes me ashamed to call myself a bassist.

I would assume those are stock.

Yeah Ed is a great player...

You should see him comp on a 5 string piccolo bass.

Jack is a friend of mine too! I know Jack.

So, thanks for the good word on the vids. To answer some points - yes, it is more of a demo than a review. You can read the review in Guitar World though. I usually do the videos after the review, but I can't remember details. I try to focus on playing something that showcases the bass.

The strings were EB with the exception of the B which was a LaBella HRS 128 tapered. The factory string was dead in comparison to the rest, so I swapped it out.

I'm happy to be of help in some of your gear related choices. I try to play 'em like I hear 'em.

Ed,

I have enjoyed all your bass gear video posts. (Especially the EBMM ones).
Not everybody has a music store down the street that carries all this stuff and you've provided a way to see what it is, how it works and sounds. I appreciate your sense of humor but most importantly, your playing. Keep 'em coming! :)
