As you may know, Ed Roman has been advertising for sale on his website an unauthorized copy Petrucci guitar and left hand copy Petrucci bodies http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar/ernieball/petrucci_ern.htm . Ed Roman aslo advertised repainted OLP guitars as EBMM axis guitars.

Our opinion is that this was an infringment on the legal rights of Ernie Ball, Inc. and John Petrucci. We contacted Mr. Roman and a settlment has been reached:

1. Ed Roman must remove from his website all references to any and all EBMM products and designs. Ed Roman also cannot say anything at all about Ernie Ball or Music Man, or EBMM guitars or basses on his website, or anywhere on the Internet , or by other public communication. [Ed Roman has already removed the link to the EBMM main page on his website and has taken out the negative references to EBMM on the OLP custom page.]

2. Ed Roman cannot from make or sell any copy EBMM guitars, including copies of the John Petrucci Signature Model;

3. Ed Roman cannot sell new EBMM guitars, and can only sell used trade-ins;

4. Ed Roman must post an apology to EBMM and John Petrucci for making and advertising the copy Petrucci guitars and bodies.

Another famous victory for the EBMM team. Thanks to Blackspy and others for pointing out these issues. We are on top of it and have been working on this problem, among other things.

Good news!

But I think you went to easy on him. Something involving a vat of boiling oil would have been more appropriate...

A year ago I was in Vegas and I happened to come across his shop. First impressions were like,"man this place is amazing". it had hundreds, thousands of guitars. I was actually in the market for purchasing something. Turned out I didn't buy anythiung because I thought the sales people were a**holes(except the bass repair man, nice guy). guitar rep was rude.

In the process of looking at soem guitars, this fat guy comes by because I had some questions. first thing and only thing he says, and i quote this accuratly..."if you got the money, we'll talk". After that, I was like, screw this place. i realized later on, that was Ed Roman. man what c*ock.

so point is, I'm never buying form them.

I haven't ever understood this culture that is becoming ever more prevalent in instrument stores. They really give you attitude like they're doing you a favour by selling you an instrument. They seem to have forgotten that we are the bottom line. We are the market and if it wasn't for us they wouldn't be in business. Of course not everyone is like that but it really does suck. Like you're not welcome in their store. On the flip side, EBMM really did do me a favour by making my JP6. They sold me a wonderful instrument but also introduced me to the best customer service I have ever come across. There are probably many stores and manafacturers (in any business, let alone musical instruments) that could really take a leaf out of EBMM's book. I'm off to give my JP6 some punishment! RAWK ON!!!!:D

god, isn't THAT the bloody truth. I HATE HATE HATE HATE buying guitars and amps. salespeople in guitar stores act like you're buying a damn car. part of the problem is that salespeople, for the most part are overprogramed, overtrained, underpaid customer service goons. ready for a laugh: I spent the better part of a decade as a luggage salesman (don't ask). the manufacturers, distributors, sales reps and upper management hand you a book that has the word "sell" is big, bold letters repeated on each page at least a dozen times, with clear instructions that the only way to sell your product is by pushing manufacturer backed promotions, and TELLING your customer what they want, because listening to them takes too much time. regardless of what they want: sell what's on promotion because the manuf. gave the company a good deal.

this creates a negitive, authoritarian atmosphere that reduces customers to irritants to be bagged, stamped, and gotten rid of quickly because if you don't, they might mess up a display you spent 30 min. putting together.

having sold things for so bloody long, I just HATE some $5.15 an hour communitity college dropout getting in my face while I'm pondering dropping over a grand on a guitar, giving me a rehearsed script to make sure I know that their "company culture" is cool and detatched, and then dashing off back to the sales counter to bitch about the customers to his little buddies.

thank god for music man. I can now completly bypass the "trying out" phase. I just pick out a color, and take it home. aahhh... quality control.
