Pardon my ignorance, but what is "a recessed plate?"

It's when they cut a pocket a little bit wider than the neck plate and the same thickness as the neck plate, recessing it into the body.

Hope that helps, Glenn |B)

Ok, so if eBay (and probably craigslist as well) is risky because of dishonest people...where can someone (i.e. me) pickup a EBMM EVH with some confidence. It sounds like this forum is a good place to start. Obviously I'm a newbie so I apologize ahead of time.
Yep, this is a good place to start.

As with any product you buy you have to educate yourself somewhat. Used gear in particular, since there's no warrantee or return policy when buying from an individual. Sometimes your local store will have an EVH ... keep an eye out.

no ebay is not the culprit...

Yea you are right BP it isnt ebay but the dishonest people who use ebay as a selling vehicle, ebay is how I funded my 20th, there are lots of honest people on ebay but the few who are not cause ebay to receive the blame, my bad should have explained myself better.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that "EVH" sig and the EBMM logo on the headstock are really those fake repop decals.... Didn't EB stop putting that sig on the headstocks back in Sept '95 when production on that model ceased?

When did the neck get widened on the Axis model, from the beginning? If the neck fits properly, it's gotta be a fake decal...... Nice blurry pics of the instrument.

Caveat emptor - Buyer beware!

No matter what, we already know it's bogus.
